why is there a news blackout of these stuff in the news? I know there was sandy but didn't realize the repercussion until it hits home, like somebody in this forum or somebody you "know." again sorry to hear about your devastation. hopefully, insurance is helping.

house is ok now. basement was totally flooded up to the floorboards of the 1st floor. didnt have heat or hot water for 4 weeks.
FEMA, helped a lot! while home ins gave pennies. didnt have separate flood ins, so that hurt us.
lost all winter clothing, furniture, appliances, a lot of small personal items, 2 cars.

but i cant complain, there are people out there who lost the whole house, or even died.
my dad almost drowned when he ran down to the garage and a ladder fell on him, knocking him underwater for a few sec. so that was a scare that put everything in perspective.

News is about ratings, not news. Old news (Sandy) doesn't pull in the ratings. You likely have to seek out local area news if you want to read/hear about it.

exactly.
who wants to hear people whine about their flooded cars, or how Ins companies arent paying, when you can talk about the national 'fiscal cliff' all day

Good luck to you buddy. I have a good friend in Newark. She lost both of her cars (which is the easy part as she already has a new one to replace them). She also lost all of her hard copy military records, her pictures, her family stuff, and a few birds that were down in her basement. She had quite a bit of irreplaceable items down in the basement...gone. It is absolutely a whole different experience when you know someone personally that was affected by this.

Best of luck to you and yours to get your life back on track and hopefully you come away with not too much damage done.

the cayenne was used exclusively in the city, where the hybrid shines, and diesel not so much

Drove a diesel in Italy and southern France last year. Not bad since it had great mileage and cheaper than premium. But when picking my daughter's glk350, opted for the gas for its convenience, availability, cost and not sure if premium diesel is everywhere.

1st one drowned. ins paid in full, and then some
after Sandy i leased another hybrid, just like the first one was.
that lease just ended (22months, but i returned it early), and i leased a diesel.

off the line the D is sweet, but quickly dies
hybrid had nice power through out the rev range
