Isn’t a comparison between these two cars like comparing apples to oranges? They both serve different purposes.
One is a rally inspired, 2 liter turbocharged, AWD bad *** that’s 271 hp that can serve as both an everyday driven sports sedan and track car. While the Mazda RX-8 is a 250 hp (MT)1.3-liter rotary sports coupe. It may be argued that the difference between a sports car and sports coupe (such as the Infiniti G35) are the same, so Mazda's claim to be the first and only true four-seat sports car is stretching things a bit. No matter what you call the RX-8, it's a great car with an innovative approach and admirable engineering but it just doesn’t compare to the EVO.
The EVO wins hands down.
The RX-8 is best compared against the likes of the Nissan 350Z.
The EVO compares to the Subaru WRX and Dodge Neon-SRT which doesn’t even hold a candle compared to the others.

"Actually, I just noticed something funny. I think none of the rx-8 owners even argued that the 8 performed better than the evo. This thread is just a bunch of evo owners justifying their purchase of an evo over the 8 (except for ike of course ). It seems to me that you evo guys are jealous of the 8 and need an ego boost, and the rx-8 people here have a big enough ego already"
oh hell no!
these guys are jealous for sure

This is always going to happen, i remember on the S2K forums this **** went on all the time... but oh well, it was always 350Z or Camaro vs the S2K, i havnt been on there lately though, but cars like the S2k or RX8 just cost so much to make faster, it costed $6000 to make that damn s2000 run 13.9 not worth it

People are always trying to compare the evo to some other car because of fear. They just can't accept the fact that the evo is better than most of the other cars out there(especially for it's price) It is a superb purpose built rally car that just so happens to be a serious street and dragstrip threat. So if a Cobra or a Viper or whatever beats it on the street or dragstrip I wouldn't be suprised. As a matter of fact they better beat the evo because that would be shameful now would it. To really see the evo's performance, bring your muscle cars to a rally track for a real flogging

rx 8 recall?
Correct me if I am wrong, but a mechanic was telling me the other day that the rx8s were recalled because the engines weren't putting out what they were expected to. He said the engine instead of pushing around 230... said it was pushing 140 instead.

LOL. Yes, alot of them got very big egos. Bsds how it looks "subjective" the evo stomps the rx8 in basically everything. Gas mileage, drag, track, mountain racing "which is a weekly thing now for me," carries 5 people, and guess what cheaper insurance rate "all depends on driver but I got a cheaper quote on the evo."
