If it's a handling or braking issue, it could be a safety liability. If it's emissions, they wouldn't want to risk the EPA's ire.
If it's something simple... well they just don't want to look stupid.

I think we both agree that something is not right, and they are trying to fix it. Perhaps the issue is openness? I guess that comes down to what people believe Ford should be saying about the situation. I don't see them as owing anyone a required explanation, but I'm sure others believe that since they put a $1K downpayment on a first-of-a-kind $36K car, Ford should be pandering to their impatience for a new toy.

Right?.....That's where all the YouTube videos are gonna come from anywahz.
Like trying to get it to pass 50 state compliance.... We'll get the watered down 327 HP version after all is said and done.
What are they supposed to say? "We're dealing with some overheating issues" and then any time a car has heat issues people show up saying "you knew about this, you sold us lemons!"

Well, in some videos, Ford was BS'ing (apparently) and said they needed to beef up the Evoque unit to deal with the Focus RS studliness. A later interview with GKN said it's the same physical unit. It might be that the level of excitement generated with drifting and the overdriven nature of the rear when driven aggressively just taxes things more than expected.
Did they back off some so that the 350HP seem like "little" ponies more than robust horses? They did say the release would only be when it's ready. That looks to be 2017. The fortunate people who get a 2016 RS are the advanced beta testers.

Yes he does and yes he is.
"Manufacturers need to accept that not one of the designers or engineers they employ joined up so they could work on the new rear-light cluster for a hatchback. They joined up so they could get their teeth into something that would cause the world to stagger."
"I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it here again, now. Nothing brilliant has ever resulted from a meeting. A meeting, by its very nature, is bound to produce a consensus. And a consensus is never going to have any peaks or troughs. Margarine came from a meeting. Butter didn’t."
I need to print both of these out, frame them and hang them in my office at work.
