figured id post a build/pic thread of our twin turbo cop car. Matts been the Project Manager on this one lol showing me the way on many things for this car.
cliff notes:
junkyard 2000 5.3L lm7 stock truck motor (unknown miles)
stock ecu, HPT, speed density
chinese head studs
pac 1218 valvesprings
ls1 head gaskets
ls6 cam
twin 70mm VSracing turbos .68ar (thanks viren www.vsracing.net)
twin 50mm chinese wastegates, no blow off valves
4" el-cheapo intercooler compliments of CBRD
flipped truck exhaust manifolds
ls1 electric fans/harness (I think came off of matts old turbo 2500 lol)
walbro 400 fuel pump
80lb injectors (also off of matts old turbo 2500 lol)
stock modified truck harness (no maf, no 02s, outed for an 80e, wired for these 80lb injectors, stock ecu under the hood, etc,)
Y-collector coupler off both turbos and then 3" piping to intercooler and throttle body
Belack Port Works truck intake manifold and throttle body. Also a little hogged/smoothed 862 stock heads
ngk plugs
AEM wideband
4l80e with transgo shift kit (unknown miles)
custom driveshaft
ford 8.8 w/trak lok
3.73s on the side, I think stockers are in it now, we will see how it goes
stock converter
drag shocks in box, will probably go on
etc etc.
thanks to all those who have helped in some way so far (MATT, corey, corey, viren, Shannon, dustin, Cameron, michael, jaimie, ebay, summit, china, cbrd, tooley, nesters, etc)
first test fire vid:
another one after IC and plumbing and oil lines done:

update as of 10.5.14...
well boys and girls its been a long road, and its still not over, but its almost there....
matt took it to the dyno last night, its maiden voyage, and its stuck in limp mode or something, wont leave 2nd gear. still does 110 in 2nd at like 6700rpms I guess haha. anyway, its got 9 deg of timing and 13 psi and laid down 461hp, all while stuck in 2nd gear so not loaded right. anyway, some leaks going on, some wheel stud issues, and other dinky crap, but its makes boost and power, and sounds great haha. more to come soon
DYNO VIDEO
10-5-14 sloppy cop car:
more troubleshooting to come, at least its more fun now with the car being mobile.

the whole point of owning an ex cop car is so that people think you're a cop... there's no way anyone is gonna think thats a cop car... well maybe some soccer mom, but who cares about that
otherwise its a sweet swap! but what with the turbo's on the same side? why not go single turbo at that point? (sorry if pics explain this somehow, most of them arn't showing up at work)

I got it because is a late model RWD heavy sedan with a stock rear that is good for power. that's really it. theres about 10 other 1990+ rwd cars that I would have bought for the same price If they would have popped up. just so happens this one did.
"Otherwise its a sweet swap" oh sorry it could have been sweeter if I kept it all under the hood rather than sticking out so I would make people think im a cop because that's the whole point right LOL
turbos on one side because why not? everyone does symmetrical twins, we thought hey, instead of two short hot sides and two long intercooler merge sides, we would do one long hotside from passenger side over to feed one turbo, then have both turbos feed a merge to the intercooler inlet. 6 dozen one way kinda thing. and also of course to get people to tell us that its done wrong or could be better or should be symmetrical etc etc.
nice catch lol

please tell me me about what the point of owning something is...I didn't get this because I wanted to make anyone think anything pal lol I don't care what anyone thinks when they see it lol the whole outside is stock, except we will have to cut big hood holes for the truck intake and turbos and downpipes.

and the turbo's thing was a question, not criticism... and I have a follow up question, why not use a bigger single turbo in this case? It would have been simpler to do, weigh less, efficiency can go either way depending on turbo sizing, but I'm kinda leaning towards better with the single just cause you can make the exhaust routing simpler and more efficient...
as far as intercooler piping if you went with the turbo per side layout, you could have done a vertical intercooler or a crossflow intercooler (top half flowing one way, bottom the other way), that way you can have relatively short and efficient intercooler piping too, especially if you put the turbo's at the front of the car. but this a moot point now since its already done. again, not insulting you in any way, but my opinion...

don't get your panties in a bunch man... I should have added in IMHO or something, didn't mean to offend or insult or belittle your work in anyway... it is a really sweet project and swap, just not the way I would have done it. again, not saying your wrong or anything... just my opinion

no panties bunched here bud its all good! lol
again, twins because why not. wanted to have the only twin turbo junkyard ls swap cop car around. my buddy already has a 9 second single turbo 5.3 crown vic. my buddies have single turboed so many cars we decided to just slam this together how it is currently, and again why not mount it all wacky. intercooler was free, so yea not spending money on some fancy intercooler to make a certain set up "work better". turbos are 350 bucks a piece. I don't give a hoot about "efficiency" or any of that jazz. this is a budget build meant to product fun HP and smiles for miles. but yes a single would have been easier and "better". but then it wouldn't be a twin turbo cop car with tractor stacks!

well oh poop I really wanted you to like it. darn. LOL. its sad people cant appreciate hot rodding anymore. too many people sit in their niche and don't accept other things. and over the past 10 years its become "cool" to spend more money on stuff to say you have it, and uncool to have "cheap" things or brands. too much showy crap going on. budget builds and learning and messing around and having fun and not caring seem to be almost lost to the masses. I don't post this thread on TBSS forum and EVOM to get people to like it or anything because CLEARLY we don't care LOL. but, if someone can see this and smile and laugh and be like damn, a few grand and lots of fun. boom.
