Is a common fact that high revving Honda Engines burn oil.

I owned two different cars with the K20z3 engine and it burns at least one quart between oil changes. I wasn't alone in the forums.

Yep... it's more common than not with these engines it seems

I have to add about half quart or so everything 1500 miles on my 8th (didn't burn as much until it was boosted). Still well within what's considered "normal" spec from Honda

I've owned 3 Acuras RSX-S and a couple Civics. I've had one of my RSX have over 200k miles and never burned a single drop of oil, and that was my beater so it was treated pretty brutal since my brothers drove it as well. My other 2 rsx were modified and 1 was boosted pushing 700whp on 30lbs of boost. Neither burned a single ounce of oil.

Maybe I'm lucky or maybe the quality of the parts I bought were great, but I want to believe my OCD to maintaince and caring for the vehicles is what did it. Just saying...

I love the new type r. I'm very anxious to see what people are going to do with it once it comes out and people start playing with the motor. The price tag I don't necessarily like but than again I think the evo and sti are crazy expensive for what they are.

This was my boosted RSX btw

you may be lucky. they're practically "supposed" to burn oil at high rpms, it's the norm. this is for actual racing though, not some 20 second pull on the highway. if you putt around at 3k all the time or it's a non performance car, shouldn't burn any oil

Wish they would of brought over the 2008 Civic Type RR. That styling with this performance would of been perfect imo.

car should be a decent performer, can't wait to see them out on autox. our 8/9s are only 200lbs more for the added benefit of awd, curious how these will do in comparison

It's high rpm nature is not so unusual - at least in stock form.

In another mini leak made by Honda in this weekend AutoCon.

Facebook Post

"The new Type R is faster in the ring that the first generation GTR."

There are multiple numbers out there ranging from mid 7min to mid high 7min. Pretty sure is the later because is hard to believe that they cut that much from the posted time done by the European Type R of high 7min.

I only know one GTR. The old ones you are referring to are Skylines.

Remember that the Type R did 7:50 already three years ago.

Im pretty sure is the 7:43 posted here in 2010.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...eife_lap_times

I can see that the Type R already did better than the run Porcshe did when they tested the GTR in 2008.
