I couldn't find an 8/9 that wasn't beat to hell, modded to hell, or had a crazy amount of miles for the asking price. Good luck with the hunt though

Do not settle on a X if you have your heart set on a 9. You are going to have to expand your search and be willing to travel most likely. I would start with searching the major cities on Craigslist and also checking other Evo specific forums. Bone stock will be hard considering how old these cars are. Id look for one with light bolt ons, tbe, intake, and flash for example.

What is your budget and are you willing to buy out of state and have the car shipped? There are clean IXs out there, but they command damn near new car prices.

Also, are you set on a certain color/spec?

California - WW 62k miles, looks stock (judging by engine pic)

WA - Clean looking RS not far from me http://www.carsdirect.com/used_cars/...sedCarListings

I found the car for you!
Silver 5spd (which is a bonus) 2006 Evolution IX Mileage: 42,489
Completely stock looking engine. $28,779

At a Mitsubishi dealer within driving distance of you.
Sunnyside Mitsubishi 1-866-398-4127 7629 Pearl Rd Middleburg Heights, OH 44130

Since its a dealer, you should be able to get them to come down a bit on the price. I highly doubt you will find a cleaner low mileage IX in your area anytime soon.

If its further than you want to drive, you can likely get them to transfer the car to another local Mitsubishi dealer near you for a reasonable shipping charge. I learned that dealers swap cars with each other all the time.

Be willing to search in the entire midwest.

A year ago, I found a stock-ish Evo IX (exhaust & intake only, never modified other than that) in Michigan. Emailed back and forth for a week and went to Michigan by train and bought it off the private seller. In my opinion, you'll pay more at the dealership and won't be as confident in the vehicle history because they might not know everything.

Paid for mine in the lower $20k range for it. 54,000 miles.

Question

I know a guy in Iowa that is mostly stock and show car quality. He treated really good and looks great! Sorry to hear that he selling it, but maybe I can help you and him!

Completely stock cars are not normally track cars. The urge to mod (at least an intake) is too great. Could always see if they are the stock rotors and how they look. Again, track people would not likely replace the rotors with OEM.
