question concerning an SST tranny rebuild.

This is probably a stupid question but what the heck, i'm gonna ask it anyways.

I recently bought a 2009 used RA. I was planning to change the SST fluid as I have no clue when or if the previous owner did. Now though, the tranny is throwing some codes like clutch 2 pressure too low and shift fork 4 and some stuff. Thank god I got a aftermarket warranty at the deal. The tranny is getting ready to get fixed by a (semi) local shop.

My stupid question is, when they tear the tranny apart and put it back together, will they in the process have to change out the SST fluid? Probably a dumb question as (my brain is at least thinking) the fluid runs through the tranny so of course its gonna all come out and be needed to be replaced. If so this would be cool as it would save me form having to buy the expensive fluid and what not lol. I may just tell the shop to buy a filter and charge me just for the filter lol.

Is my train of thought correct? Cause damn the diaqueen fluid is $$$$

For sure. Don't see how they are going to rebuild it without changing the fluids. Does this shop specialize in working with Getrag transmissions? Who is the shop?

Yes, the fluid replacement will be included in works which are covered by warranty. Lucky.

Make sure the independents use the exact right stuff.

Its a shop in nj that the used car dealership recommended. The shop says they worked with many SST trannys and the owner owns a Evo. I asked him a bunch of questions and he seems legit.

Fork 4 magnet is probably loose or fallen off. That is the #1 reason to open the case on that transmission. Last time I checked, there is no one in the USA who rebuilds these transmissions I have not heard of. I haven't ever heard of him. Ask if his shop is an ATRA member shop. If not, run, don't walk. The transmission costs to much money to replace to half *** it.

Might want to check this out: https://plus.google.com/112795939532...ut?gl=us&hl=en

Do you know of any places in Virginia that do quality work on the SST?
