This thread is getting good. Lots of sweet track cars out there! I really like the white wheels and sticker on EvolvedMR's car.

Funny how lots of people have realized that tracking an EVO is expensive and they can get you into trouble with how fast they are. Truth-i-ness. Also true about D-bags buying more and more evos, but the guys I see at the track with EVO's are always pretty cool.

For the person that asked about splitter mounting - it's stainless cable with crimp on ferrules from Home Depot.

Thanks so much! It's funny how all the things that people tell you in the beginning that you blow off, become so true later on. Work on your driving first....NAhhh more horsepower. Get your brakes set up well before anything.... NAhhh even more horsepower...Just run on the stock suspension you won't even know where to begin setting up any way....Nahh i'll take ohlin's thanks!

For what its worth, and I know the newer track guy's won't listen anyway, but go get the cheapest piece you can find and beat the brakes off of it. Then decide what kind of car you want and how you want to build it. After being at the track for a couple years you start to see the same people and can learn a ton from them for free!! Then you start to learn what's fast, what's fun and what you really like (996 GT3 RS! thanks to the economy now you can get one for about what I have in my evo!!)

I tried my best to build a car that was safe and reliable first with good suspension and brakes. Had I known how much I would enjoy tracking and the cost of putting an evo on the track I probably would not have bought it. Oh well live and learn right. It was a fun ride!!!!

the cars so far are definitely awesome!

lol, I knew looking at this thread would make me sad. I'm much more budget than many/all of you.

Many specs/pictures/videos can be found here: www.FlatlineMotorsports.net

I bought it with a salvage title in 05 for $14K and it only needed minor work.

I started tracking it in HPDEs and it looked like this:

Then eventually (I think 2 years ago) I did this at Summit:

Then it looked like this:

Now it looks like this (as of last weekend):

I have a house, a wife, and twin boys and I'm an Engineer a couple years out of college. I'm the only income in the house so I'm very blessed to be able to do what I do but looking at threads like this are sad. lol, lo-buk. Nice cars guys

Plans: fix what I believe to be a bad head gasket, flip the tires, maybe upgrade to silicone cooling hoses, try to avoid the temptation of 23psi, continue instructing and learning, and networking.

lol, if any of you feel sorry for me you can buy my wheels, found here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sa...ml#post7051113 so I can get a new head gasket in before VIR next month. lol otherwise I just may have to turn the boost down and come in early each time.

Where did you get those extensions for the GTC-200? Are they custom fabrication? I've never seen any that tall for that wing.

Yeah, I had to fab them. I cadded them up and had them made. They work great. I was really tired of not being able to see out my rear window. I didn't really notice any downforce benefit at Summit, but I'm hoping to pick up a MPH or two on the clilmbing esses at VIR next month. PM me if you want the CAD file. I got a local college to machine them for me.

Here's a clip of me racing in Canada last weekend:

I haven't tracked my Evo yet but would like to one of these days. That's what cars like ours we're made for!

mine is more mild than wild..

2005 MR, 55k miles

ENGINE:
ETS Intake
RRE STEALTH TBE
SBR 3.5 intercooler with full piping
Kelford 272's
precision 780cc
walbro
forge MBC
stock block, head, turbo

CHASSIS:
stock MR bilsteins struts/springs
MUELLERIZED stage1
WORKS full trunk cage
CARBING 6point underbrace
TEIN camber plates
i normally run direzza z1's 255/40/17
Shep stage1 Tcase

EXTERIOR:
JDM rear
APR canards(i think there fake tho)(i try different fitments on them so my bumper is full of wholes)
REXPEED type-c spoiler
RALLY ARMOUR mudflaps

BRAKES:
2piece slotted STOPTECH rotors(front)
SS lines
EBC Yellowstuff(always run these pads)

some pix:

That lil toyota mr2s or watever it is has a massive turbo on it and would pull me nasty on the straights, then in the turns he would go at a minimum 10mph slower than me and wouldnt let me pass, this went on for 4 laps.. so i was forced to overtake him inside turn 1 at 115 mph.. I had an instructor in the car and i told him before hand i was gonna do it since he was killin my lap time.. haha track was NPR in batonrouge louisiana.

I bought my car new and the first weekend i completely warped the rotors(after 1500mile break in of course) through the mountains of SoCal.. the next week it went to MUELLER for his stage 1 and my 2piece stoptechs... continued with my bolton suspension mods and the last thing was the engine mods... to me suspension and brakes are much more fun to utilize than going fast in a straight line

2004 Evo VIII

Purchased new in '04 with only 4 miles. Currently has 103k and going strong. I used to do only drag racing and this car was at the track in '04 with only 1100 miles on her. Couple years later in '06 I did my first HPDE and was hooked. Started doing autox with it as an inbetween for track days.

Mostly I just do autox with the EVO now and use my other car for HPDE's. My plan/goal for this year is to get used to the new suspension and go as fast as I can in BSP on street tires. Next year I'll upgrade to A6's and start to add power as needed.

Power:

- 100% bone stock motor
- Ebay 3" TBE
- Hallman MBC @ 22psi
- ECUFlash
- JDM MR BOV
- Muse LICP
- Perrin Intake
- est 300hp/300tq

Drivetrain:

- Exedy Twin Disc

Suspension:

- Ohlin Flags
- Perrin 25mm RSB

Brakes:

- RotorPro's slotted rotors
- Ferodo DS2500 pads
- SS lines
- Motul RBF 600

Wheels/Tires

- BBS MR rims
- 15mm spacers front & 4mm spacers rear
- 255/40 Z1 Star Specs

Aero:

- stock EVO undertray
- JDM rear (need to build an undertray still)

Inside:

- Scroth Ralley 4 ASM harnesses

Things I like:

- the fact that you can drive to the track on the weekends and still drive it to work on monday.
- being able to drive in any weather

Things I don't like:

- not much... the clear coat on my wing is coming off

Future:

- either 17 or 18x9.5 wheels
- Hoosier A6 tires
- have a ton of parts sitting on the shelf waiting to install
- seat time, seat time, seat time...
