there were 5 go pros on the car. we recovered all 5. 3 of them worked through the wreck, one has a corrupted file entirely, and one was working but apparently didn't save data from the crash so it stops a few turns before. you'll see the videos tomorrow morning on TV
the flames were from the oil feed line we think. it was doing it all week. after the second day we discovered the oil feed fitting was a little loose, and tightened it only to have it strip. day three in the morning we scrounged up a fitting that would fit, modified it to fit better but apparently it wasnt good enough. on the dyno saturday morning it was visiblely still leaking so we removed it, made more modifications to it including new crush washers etc, but apparently it wasnt enough.

Here are a few more of the cage. Notice it was built for a single occupant only and has no diagonals to protect a passenger. That's legal. But it's not strong enough.
I'll post some others tomorrow.

I think it's pretty clear my cage held up under the most insane conditions imaginable. I have an engineering degree and followed rules set in place from years of learning the hard way. Adding extra bars doesn't always make stuff safer or stronger. Will I build another? Sure, but I had a lot of money in this car so it will be a few years to build another. My only regret on the safety was not using the window nets. We went with windows instead to improve the drivers visibility in sharp turns. When the door ripped off the car it left the passengers arms exposed.

rhys millens had 0 diagonals to the passenger side. if you want an example of a minimalist cage, point to his.

That's one reason I'm asking the PPIHC organization to require FIA rally cookbook, FIA homologated or Rally America cages next year for production based cars.
