Wow that hood weight is impressive. I was thinking about getting the dry carbon Seibon Voltex replica (at 8lb), but $2500 is a hard pill to swallow.

after looking around i would agree. i think our layup is good but we need to make a better mold to have a sell-able part. Also i would like to switch one or two of the 3k layers for 6k if we were to sell them. It would weight about 7 lbs or slightly under.

we discussed that last night. that and mark our hood hinge latch location with the laser.

it will take more setup to get a sellable product out the door (fit and finish wise) that we could do it if enough guys were interested. and it would be a fraction of the seibon price

first things first we need to finish the hillclimb season strong - two more races!

we ordered a fuel cell that is Pikes Peak legal and plan on redoing the splitter this weekend to have a better fit and drop a couple lbs off of it.

I like your thoughts on making it sellable. Hell I'd buy it as is and paint the top.

I can attest to it being a huge pain in the *** to make something worthy of selling. Making one-off parts is NBD, but when customers are fickle and complain about everything, it takes like 10x as long to try and anticipate any issues that might come up.

Also if you plan on making more than just a couple, definitely get yourself protected through an LLC. Also I was told to make sure all the financials go through an account separate from your other personal accounts. Don't let the waters get grey

id literally take one at a reasonable price with whatever imperfections, and id sign a legally binding document stating so lol, than pay more for a perfect hood that id still be painting.

You're not worried about the pendulum effect behind the rear axle with that much fluid sloshing around?
