Yeah, I know, but what I've read/heard so far suggests that the PS4 is basically the same tire with just tiny improvements. I have had my eye on the PS4 for the past year as my next tire for my daily.

Advan AD08Rs are great tire that are good at not greasing up and can run pretty well in the rain.

Hankook RS3s were a great tire for not greasing up but were pretty bad in the rain. I imagine the RS4s will likely share that trait.

What I've learned playing with Maxxis RC1 and Toyo RA1

- Maxxis RC1 is not a good time attack tire. However, it wears very well and was originally developed for Miata spec series.

-Toyo RA1 are slower out of the box. However, when they are shaved or worn to 3/32. They are about 1-2 seconds faster. They also don't heat cycle out like a slick and I felt like they kept getting faster.

What I've heard from other drivers.

-Nitto NT-01 is right on par with RA-1. The main differences are they do heats up quicker and you don't need to shave them

- Toyo R888 heat cycles out fast.

Hope some of this is useful.

FWIW the BFG R1S's didn't have an issue in the rain

My point was that if pick up a set of MPSS now, you may not be able to find a single MPSS replacement in a year if you ruin one, and the others are close enough in tread depth to just replace one. Where as the MPS4 will likely be around for 3-5yrs.

I've been looking around at 100 treadwear tires the past couple months. Here's the list I've come up with for potential options:
Maxxis Victra RC1275/35/18$255.00
Nitto NT01275/35/18$255.00
Nitto NT01315/30/18$340.00
Toyo Proxes R888R295/30/18$255.00
Toyo Proxes R888R315/30/18$285.00
Toyo RA1275/35/18$265.00
Federal FZ-201 (med)285/30/18$185.00
Federal FZ-201 (soft)265/35/18$185.00

Currently I run the 275 RC1 and like it but I definitely would like to try something else to see how other stuff compares.

The NT01 seems to be the tried and true golden standard.

The R888R I haven't been able to find much on but I'm not too optimistic about it as I've talked with enough people who don't like the old R888 and it's still the same compound.

The RA1 also seems like a good option but I'm not sure it can 1 up the NT01 except in maybe the rain.

The one that interests me the most is the FZ-201. I haven't been able to find much of anything on this tire but it seems to be used in a fair amount of series overseas. Also of interest is the fact it offers a med and soft compound while still remaining a 100tw. I'd love to hear if anyone has any feedback or knows anything more about these tires.

I'm interested in going economy street tire for some Gridlife events next year. I've been looking at the Federal 595RS-R (140TW) ~ 255 for $130. Anyone have feedback on this tire on an Evo? I'm wanting to run 255 for class reasons (on 9.5" wheels).

@ayoustin - As for the FZ-201, this is an R-Compound tire from what I've read. My guess is that it's not going to keep you in a street tire class. Do you know anyone who is selling these?

When I was running R-Compound tires and Full slick tires, I purchased run-offs (used tires) and had excellent results (~100/tire shipped). I'm not at a high level of competition so I didn't need (nor could I use) the absolute best 5-10% of the tire.

I'm planning to try and get the car into GTA's limited class. Treadwear is limited to 100, width is unlimited. I know of a couple places that sell them, none are local to me. All of the tires I posted in that table are sold as 100tw.

I've spent a little time looking for used tires as well but they're few and far between for something this sticky and in the right size. Plus with me not planning to buy until I'm closer to being through my current tires means used isn't something I can plan on.

I've read a lot of poor reviews of the 595s and r888s, when it came to heavier cars. I've read other reviews where people raved about them, but the people who posted negative reviews seemed to more informed.

I was under the impression that this tire couldn't hold up to the heat of TT/TA. I thought these got greasy really fast, and didn't last long as a result? I know this tire is extremely popular for AutoX, I thought it was too soft for a road course.

It can’t go a 20 minute session full tilt without greasing up but 2-3 Laps is fine. Speaking from first hand experience

I think Danny Popp ran a 1:30.x at Mid-Ohio on the RE71R at Gridlife.

Ok. So this is similar to the Time Attack guys who run A7s instead of R7s. There is a narrow, but extreme window of performance.

What about longevity? How many days/events have they lasted? Whats the fall-off like in performance?

Only ran them one event, then some street miles before i sold the car. Multiple guys ran the full gridlife season on one set. They are seconds faster than rc1’s
