Can any stock frame turbo do 600awhp @26psi or less with quick spool?

The forums have so much history, it's hard to find new threads discussing the latest and greatest.

I find myself reading posts from 2008 about FP Red etc... Looking to do a new turbo for my Road Race Time Attack application, the FP Red still appears to be a budget minded replacement. That said, I welcome 2017 info from racers in the know.

My application: EVO IX RS - Full Race motor 2.4 on e85
* Big track focus - COTA etc..
* NASA Time Attack
* One Lap
* Optima Challenge

Trying to better my current set-up. 530awhp at 26psi. Want more at similar psi with quick spool.

600 and quick spool aren't normally used in the same sentence so something will have to give. Assuming the 2.4 is accompanied by ported everything and matching cams then you'd have one of the quicker spooling Red's but it isn't going to spool the 'same' as a ef3. The dyno results thread has more intel but the BW turbo's show promise as well but that obv tips the budget.

+1 that more power = lazier turbo. 600whp and "quick spool" don't go together, especially at 25psi,like Balrok said.
530WHP is quite a bit more than most time attack cars, with exception of the Open class. Shooting for some course records?

An 8374 would do really well on that setup, not sure 600 will happen at just 26psi though.

Also, good luck with the 2.4. The 100mm cranks like to crack/fail with road course use.

Efr8374 T4 on 2.4 on E85, all out as much as it can blow made 629whp on Mustang at FFTec in California.

However this tune would quickly result in DNF if car was lapping track.

I think 550whp on Mustang is reasonable expectation for EFR8374 on E85, at maybe 32psi?

The EFR8374 should spool about as well as FP Red- fullboost by 4000rpm or sooner. As evidenced by few tests so far.

Another alternative is the much loved GTX3582R, but spool likely higher in rev range, maybe full boost above 4500rpm.

something BW twin scroll would make that power and decent spool with the 2.4 on e85. but from seeing other cars, the 2.4 don't last very only for track duties.

Interesting, 2.4's do not last on circuit.

I would have thought they would be as reliable as they are built - and pushed...interesting.

I do se 4G64 destroked 2.2's widely used and seemingly lasting.

And I am not sure that 2.3 crank (100mm) is flexing as much as its discussed in this forum.
Plenty of them have lived and continued to do so at high power high stress level for years.

It may be the sheer number of end-users - so popular - to give more samples of failures.
I am using 100mm crank...although modest power and normal redline - with confidence.

100mm cranks last fine in a street app. For lapping sessions, they crack/break with the constant/long duration abuse.

Thank you guys. I had to stop worrying about all that could happen to my race car a long time ago. LOL! I drive it 10/10ths to win at the track or next to some GTR going to get milk. It's what it's for. I love my 2.4.

I will have to let the magic of my new turbo be worked out with my tuner and the dyno. You hear me Kevin? LOL!
