Someone please help me out-need to borrow tensioner tool

Guys as the title states, is there anyone near the NYC area or Westchester that can loan me a timing belt tensioner tool for a day. I'm in the middle of doing my cam install, when my buddy (who said he had one) says he doesn't have one. SO with that said I'm going on vacation next week, and kind of in a rush to get this out the way. Please, I know someone has got to have one. PM me if you can help. Thanks.

You can do the job without it if you A) have a vise or B) are replacing the hydraulic tensioner. Do either of those apply?

I have a t-belt tensioner tool but I'm up in MA...don't think that'll help you...

pull the hydraulic tensioner off the car (2 bolts). take it to the vise and (SLOWLY) compress it until you can slide a nail into the lock hole. change the belt, bolt the tensioner back to the car and pull the pin...

that *should* be all you need, IIRC.

of course, this is if you're looking for the threaded rod tensioner tool...not the tensioner pulley tool.

I'm not changing the belt though. I'm just doing a simple cam install and need some slack on the belt. Can I do this without taking the tensioner off the car?

I think you *could* do it but it would really complicate your install. Did you even have to remove the lower timing cover?

If you want to come up to MA, you're welcome to borrow my tensioner tool. I live about 2:45 from the Palisades Mall...

Will it snap in there? Cause that'd be a nightmare.
