Enough with the cops have a tough job, we all do. You are to do your job correctly and objectively with no incidents of "harresment". This is like telling a lady at my job her skirt is to short, and it's below her knees and I have to suspend her without pay. Absolute BULL****.

I'm pretty sure that cops have a LITTLE more to worry about 9 times out of 10. Who's to say that the person they pull over for a busted tail lamp isn't going to pull out a gun and kill them. Just give some credit. I'm not saying that they have the right to be dicks about everything because they have a tough job. I am saying that.....People generally complain when things don't go their way, but they rarely ever praise when things go right.

When was the last time you said "thank you for doing your job so professionally" the last time you got a ticket for speeding (when you were indeed at fault). More than likely, you were saying "this is bull****, I can't beleive he isn't gonna be cool and let me go with a verbal warning." See what I mean?

Like I said, I'm not trying to step on any toes.....

I dunno about that...the cop might think you are being sarcastic and **** with you even more...IMHO it is best to say as little as possible...

I saw this over at rx7club and registered just to post this:

The cop is totally full of it. In NYS you can paint your back window black if you want. (As long as you have 2 side mirrors.)

You have an excellent case for bringing a harassment complaint against whatever police department issued this ticket.

File a complaint against the officer and get yourself a lawyer.

There are cops out there who NEED to be taught that they are not beyond reproach. A good example would be the time my friend got a ticket for "insufficiently bright tail lights" is his Dodge Omni. They were 100% functional, stock tail lights. The cop just thought he could screw him because he fit into a particular stereotype that he didn't like.

There's no reason to let this guy come along and kick sand in your face. Stick it to him hard.

I hate the law.
It's always a clear example of the government trying to bubble wrap every aspect of our lives "just in case". Yes old cars and slow, very low performance cars have to use the roads too. Yes they need to go 65 or slower on the freeway since any faster IS unsafe (drum brakes, heavy weight, etc) for them. No, the law doesn't need to be made the same for a vette, evo or even a bone stock civic. It just doesn't make sense.

My 2 cents

Make it 4 cents, 'cause I agree. German autobahns are setup with different speed limits for each lane but, the Liberal posse would be against this as most cars that can comfortably sustain a 120mph+ cruising speed (left lane) costs money. Thus those folks would be seen as elitest and shunned by the left. Karl Marx would be happy at the direction this country is going in.

We have he same law in NY, that's why everyone is up in arms.

A little free research for ya

The citation sounds like you committed the offense of pissin' of the police. You can look up the actual violation code section at http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?cl=128&a=17

Scan down toward the bottom to paragraph 30 which reads
"30. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle
with any object placed or hung in or upon the vehicle, except required
or permitted equipment of the vehicle, in such a manner as to obstruct
or interfere with the view of the operator through the windshield, or to
prevent him from having a clear and full view of the road and condition
of traffic behind such vehicle."

Smells like he was searching for a reason to write you a ticket. Probably didn't help to have the personalized tag .... On the same topic, just past paragraph 30 of section 375 of title 9 is the muffler section.

"31. Mufflers and exhaust systems. Prevention of noise. Every motor
vehicle, operated or driven upon the highways of the state, shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler and exhaust system in
constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or
unusual noise and no such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped
with a cut-out, bypass, or similar device. No person shall modify the
muffler or exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will
amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor or exhaust system of
such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler or exhaust system
originally installed on the vehicle and such original muffler and
exhaust system shall comply with all the requirements of this section.
A muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle
plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust
gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise.
An exhaust system is a series of mechanical devices for the purpose of
receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and expelling
it into the atmosphere.
31-a. No person shall, in the state, sell, install or use a motorcycle
exhaust device without internal baffles, known as "straight pipes".
31-b. No person shall, in the state, sell, install or use a motorcycle
exhaust device that is intentionally designed to allow for the internal
baffling to be fully or partially removed or interchangeable. This
subdivision shall not apply to a motorcycle manufactured or assembled
prior to nineteen hundred seventy-nine or a motorcycle registered as a
limited use vehicle or an all terrain vehicle pursuant to article"

Violation of the provisions appears punishable as "32. The violation of any of the provisions of this section with
respect to adequate brakes except those relating to emergency or hand
brakes shall constitute a misdemeanor and the violation of any of the
other provisions of this section, including those relating to emergency
or hand brakes, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding one hundred
fifty dollars or by imprisonment for not exceeding thirty days, or by
both such fine and imprisonment, except as herein otherwise provided."

Please note that this aint legal advice. Merely a little free internet research for everyone's voyueristic reading pleasure.

Good luck and fight that ticket.

HI read this from a video game forum its hilarious

and about all these posts about bad cops and good cops

im from the west coast of canada and omg there are so many corrupt cops and cops who are just plain dicks around here its amazing, but there ive also met a lot of caring cops who are actually lookin to help people so they're not all bad

some cases of bad cops here are

6 cops beat a homeless guy to death here they were found guilty and all they're getting is 2months house arrest, they litterally picked a guy up from downtown and took him to a secluded area in a park in the middle of the night and beat him to death. < incidents like that happen in a lot of places in canada especially the northern part you hear about it on the news but nothing really gets done about it. also cops and politicians are being investigated for being involved with drug dealers and etc etc the list just goes on about how bad cops are.

but this is canada i cant see it being better down there in the states, when i was in boston with my cousin he was showing me around town and we got pulled over, 2 cop cars all out with guns swearing and yelling their asses off once they got my cousins id and saw he was a doctor they calmed down apologized and left, they prolly saw that he was persian and thought he was a terrorist or something damn psycho cops.

anyways im going on too much about this
but to those cops that are on here you have to see why ordinary people profile cops as @$$holes its cuz of what they've been through although i read some people dont like cops because they dont let them slide, which is just plain BS. and although people with just causes profile cops as aholes we do know your not all bad.

heheh thats a funny ticket and definitely a keeper.

what would be even funnier is if the cop won and everyone w/ stock spoilers had to get them removed.
