Neon t-case fluid?

Andrew and I were doing my fluids today (did em all, thanks a ton Andrew)

And the fluid that we drained from the tcase was a vibrant neon blue type color, and the rear diff was the normal, but dirty gold/oil type.

I was under the impression that my fluids have never been changed, has anyone ever seen a fluid like this?

Some metal shavings in the tcase/trans... nothing major and just small shavings no chunks so hopefully its ok

happy evo today!

^I want to say I've read some brand is something similar to what you describe, but I might just be smoking crack. How does the car feel now?

Better, we did the tcase/front diff, trans, rear diff and coolant. I used that coolant that i bought from you a few months ago. My coolant was almost black, and smelled like death.

2nd gear is still 'notchy' but never really heard it grind. There were 0 crystals in the tcase, a good amount in the trans, and some in the rear diff.

Was an awesome day though... feels good to get it done!

Bright Blue fluid is Redline Lightweight Shockproof... its almost green.

I hope that's NOT what was in the transfer case.

I use heavyweight shockproof in the transfer case.... and I overfill it (tilt the car on its side)

That's what was in the t-case :-/

It wasn't near as thick as the DiaQueen either, but it wasn't too diluted with wear, so here's to hoping it wasn't in there too long....

Also, we tipped the car quite a bit when we filled it, just like you mentioned to me a few months ago when I did mine.

Side note, the rear diff held about .3qt more fluid than I anticipated, and read that it held.

I thought I had read that.

Derek, not sure if damage was caused but it sounds like the fluid was less than ideal for your car's use.

I told you it was easy to do it all, right?

^it is a one person job with a pump setup, too. Schuck's has manual pump systems for cheap, or you could buy/build an electric setup of your own.
