Dead battery

Sooo... I was away for a couple months for work, and had the Sport in a garage. I didn't disconnect the battery, and now it's dead. Bad planning on my part.

It's a single stall garage, so I can't get another car in to jump it, and theres no outlets either to hook up a battery charger. With the FAST key system, its looking like i can't even put the car in neutral (CVT transmission, not manual) to push it out of the garage to jump it. So i need to take the battery completely out, bring it to a charger and charge it, then put it back in the vehicle.

Am I going about this correctly, or does anyone have any better understanding of the FAST keys so I can move the vehicle?

Just get a cheap trickle charger. Removing the battery is easy and less of a hassle.

NO.
Don't remove the battery.

[STRIKETHROUGH]Look at your shifter and near the upper left there is a small round (covered) slot, pop off the cover carefully and depress the locking mechanism, so you can shift into Neutral to push your vehicle out of the garage to charge/jump.[/STRIKETHROUGH]

PLEASE LOOK BELOW to POST#5.

The FAST key and security system should prevent the trans from going into neutral even if you use the manual release (or so I thought) , but that's worth a try! I could be wrong.

My suggestions:
-read the owners manual.
-take a battery that already has a charge, carry it to the front of the car, and jump start accordingly.
-use an extension cord or really long jumper cables...

Ok, I believe that was mentioned to me by our salesman...
(I need to read the owner's manual to be certain) But, I believe the steps are:

1. Open Glove box, there is a security SLOT on the upper left of the GB..
2. Insert your smartkey into that SLOT.
3. Now you should be able to use that small release hole on the shifter to move into Neutral.

I thought about that, and started typing it out but decided that was for when the battery in the KEY dies. Otherwise, the KOS system and the ETACS ECU will need to be powered by the key fob batteries. I am completely speculating here, but I just couldn't see how that would work.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I do have a trickle charger for my bike battery, but the garage has no power outlets so that was out as an option.

I did look through the manual and try the slot in the glovebox with the key fob, however maybe I missed the release hole on the shifter.

I ended up taking the battery out and moving it inside where I had a battery charger available. Things seem to be running fine now.
