LT Off Road Tires / Sizes - anyone?

Hey guys, I'm new here hoping to get some advice from some Mitubishi experts. Bought a 2012 Outlander Sport SE new a few years back. I'm more of a classic car guy, but I liked the idea of the solid MPG and the 4 wheel drive option. Anyway, long and short is I'm at the point where I need new tires and want to buy a new tire / wheel combo and think some off road style gear would bring out the mean looking features on this ride. Has anyone ever gone raw and tried to put a 225/75/R16 off road LT tire on this car? Looks like it would barely fit? If they do fit, is a goofy look? Was looking at the Cooper Discoverer ATP tires here. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah seems like the 215/70/16 are the only sure fit - Those grabber ATs look mean.. But I really want a white letter tire. Just found these bad *****es. Think I'm gonna roll with these and try and get a little offset going with a new wheel. Get the tires kicking out past the wheel well a half inch or so.

Lemon, thanks for the discourse - let me ask, do you have an SE or ES model? Basically wondering if you dropped from the stock 18" wheel to the 16"? Also, with the spacers - did you have to get new lugs?

Due to limited budget on not being able to have dedicated winters (regularly gets to -30C here in winter and I may be moving to a slightly warmer place but a ton more snow) I am going to us the Nokain WRG3s. A few guys here at work love them and swear by them.

Here is a 18 x 9.5 +22 wheel all around. you can see a bit of poke.
An FYI the rear wheel sits in about 5mm more.

(This is not my vehicle. Its from Puerto Rico and saved as a fitment reference on my computer.)

205/70/16 Yokohama Geolander AT/S....low noise, excellent grip wet or dry, stiff side wall for crisp cornering yet comfortable ride.

Here it is.. **** looks hard.. Ol school / new school. Totally changes the look of the vehicle / brings out the aggressive design features etc.
