Dealership put 5-30w oil in, is that ok?
I took my car in for it's 7500 mile service (oil change and tire rotation) and on the next oil change due sticker, it states 5-30w but our manual suggest 0-30w.
I know that it shouldn't matter much but what would the goods and bads be?
Thank you

I thought our manual states 0w20 which is full synthetic.
I would call the dealership and ask why did they didnt use the correct oil.
- slight gas mileage reduction

Now that you mentioned it, it does seem like I'm getting slightly less gas mileage. I would hate to call them if it's not that big of a deal so I wanted to hear what some of you say first.

You need to double check your Owner's Manual for the correct oil specifications.
There may have been a change due to the change in motor size, but don't just guess at it.
- MPG Will be effected with the higher weight/viscosity oils - even if it's by a small amount.
Here's a list of Maintenance items (Keep in mind this is for a 2.0L motor. But, the info is still relevant.)
As reference, the proper oil is 0W-20 Full Synthetic for a 2.0L

Do you have the 2.4L engine?

Is 5w-20 also considered synthetic?

5W20 is part synthetic or synthetic blend . it also can come in full synthetic . with the heat of South Carolina 5W20 should be fine in your OS . you will loose a little mileage 1 or 2 miles a gallon . in the winter time you might want to make sure they use the 0W20 Mitsubishi recommends .

Hopefully that oil change was on the house!
If so then go ahead and run it for ~3,000 miles (or 3 months which ever comes first), then get it flushed and replaced with the correct viscosity!
Cause at this rate.. you're Buying about 8 additional Gallons more per week than you would normally, IF you just had the correct oil... traveling at those kind of mileages.
sh!!!ts, that's $20.32 More in gas per week (based on $2.54/gal.)
I'm no accountant but if you extend that out to 4 weeks then 3 months, your wallet will be $243.84 lighter than today.
