NZ Evo 9 build
Hey guys, I thought id put up a build thread of my evo 9 for those who are interested. any questions just ask away
i had a evo 4 that made 608hp atw and raced that a few times in full street trim and road tyres and done a best time of 10.5@137mph.my goal with this car was a 10 second pass and done this easily, but i kept blowing 4th gear. This is when i got in touch with my tuner (speedtech motorsport nz) inquiring about a dog box, they then told me that a customer of theres was selling his evo 9 with a dog box etc. i ended up buying this evo 9.
The person who i brought the car off had done a lot of work to the car already, he had planned to go for the world stock block record and the car had made 517kw at the wheels, but with little teething issues the car done a best time of 10.7@136mph.
The car is at speedtech motorsport, I'm not interested in the stock block record so the old motor is out and Andre is building me a good bottom end which has a
eagle crank,
corrillo rods,
custom je pistons,
o-ringed block.
I'm using the head from my evo 4 which has
1mm fierra oversized valves,
kelford 272 cams,
kelford valve springs,
kelford port and polish,
STM solid lifter kit.
im also using the Hypertune intake manifold that was on my evo 4,
its running a garrett T04z turbo on a HKS manifold.
dual bosch 044 fuel pumps and -8 feed line.
ID2000 injectors
ppg gear set
ikea sequential shifter
STM ghost shifter
Spark Tech ignition system.
have removed the factory brembos and fitted ors brakes to fit 15" wheels.
BC ER suspension.
car will be running on e85 fuel.
it has a 6 point chromolly roll cage.
15" wheels running MT slicks, also have some 18s for the street.
it is all road legal aswell, but main use will be drag racing.
Don't know how to post pictures so if someone could help with this, i will put some up as the build progress.

Nice - will be good to see how this goes! I had wondered what happened to the stock bock record bid.
What are your plans with it now, just a general "fast drag EVO"? Will you be keeping with the T04Z or will you be stepping it up to something more modern?
Have you uploaded your pics to a website (dropbox/photobucket/whatever?" or you just have them on your computer at the moment?

Very nice - just connected the dots, was chatting with Chris about this a couple of days ago. I look forward to seeing how it goes, good luck for when you get it to the strip
Sorry for asking a question and ignoring the response there, not sure how I missed that you replied. Cool, T04Z seems pretty capable for some solid times - though particularly curious to watch how things develop from there, been quite interested in seeing how the ultra popular in NZ still T04Z compares with the newer FP/Precision equivalent size turbos
