J's GoForBroke Build (CCW.6466.FF.Built)
#122
So slowly doing a little bit at a time.. ran into a little problem. After I torqued the head I realized I should try to get the exhaust manifold studs out as I have ARP replacements. In typical fashion they all came out except one, so we loaded the block up and drove it to an amazing welder friend of mine to weld on a nut to heat it up and unscrew it.. worked like a charm and saved the day.
Little Weld Action
Today I went with RonnieSize to dyno his car, had a little mishap there as well lol
I've heard about this happening but never seen it, needless to say as soon as I got home I placed my order for the ARP bolts for that as well lol

Check your Fluidampr flange thickness first! There are older versions that are 17mm thick and newer versions that are 10mm thick
For the 10mm flanges
ARP-661-1004 for the older 17mm flanges
Extreme PSI actually has a warning to buy those bolts if you run a Fluidampr or ATI pulley. I ordered them from Jegs for $15/pack & free shipping, I had to order a few sets because that scared a few other friends into buying some as well lol.
For $15 you could be saving your $300+ damper. Mine is pretty much irreplaceable because it's the aluminum version which isn't made anymore.
For the 10mm flanges
99gst_racer (from dsmtuners): If anyone is still interested in running ARP's instead of the OEM bolts, the stock length (25mm) bolt part number is 661-1002. If you want 5mm longer bolts for added thread engagement, use part number 661-1003

Any of you remember what the torque spec was on those things? Torquing wrong is what i hear causes it more often then not.
Thanks!

Thanks man lol I'll be honest I mainly got the beadlocked version just because of that. Could I see a picture of yours mounted? Yours are lighter so you should be happy about that! What size did you get? These will be my everything wheels lol I plan on running M&H bias plys on these on the street.

I haven't mounted mine yet BC my car is in the body shop. It'll be going to STM for a cage in about a month and I'll probably start a build thread at that point
I ordered 15x8 6" backspace. Which should be about a 38 offset. I am planning on running 275/50/15 mickey Thompson ET street but I want to see if the wheels hit the caliper or not before buying tires.
I also grabbed a set of those professional awesome chromoly trailing arms to fit as big of a tire that I can with my higher offset.
Mine are just polished for now. Don't know what to do with them yet. I was going to buy Sheepeys but his were a little too flush @ 16x9 5.5 backspace

I ordered and received the ARP-661-1004 and the shank is too long for my fluid damper. Not sure what to do

That being said the sites that sell these should probably change the disclaimer to check the flange to determine the length of bolt needed. I'll probably just end up using a little thicker washer, but mine is a couple years old so I might have the thicker flange, I'll have to check that out. Also in light of this new information I have gone back up and edited my previous post just in case somebody stops reading there lol
