AEM MAF Scaling

Going from a stock intake to the AEM I scaled my MAF calibration by 1.14. My LTFT is running about +/-1%. I used Tuner Helper which is available on one of the Evo X forums. I will post virtual dyno results in the dyno section if anyone is interested. BTW, I found the rear Bilsteins seriously underdamped even with the stock springs. I'm running GTWorx springs and will get the rear shocks revalved this winter.

Alrighty, update!

I guess these intake thingies work.

Red plots = OEM intake
Blue plots = AEM intake with no tune changes

I was actually surprised it ran less boost down low but not surprised it ran a tad more boost up top.

Not a bad gain. Guess it was pretty corked up.

Next I tuned it a bit for the AEM intake. I decided to keep the boost lower in the low and mid range (stock clutch) and raise it a bit 5,000 rpm up.

Red plots = OEM intake
Blue plots = AEM intake with no tune changes
Green plots = AEM intake with tune changes

Even more gains. Pretty impressed actually.

Full gains from after tuning:

Red plots = OEM intake
Green plots = AEM intake with tune changes

+33 whp / +12wtq

Full gains so far from OEM bone stock:

Blue plots = OEM stock Evo 10
Red plots = Intake, Test Pipe, 3 port BCS, Injectors, Fuel Pump, E85, tune

131 whp / 93 wtq

Pretty darn happy with that.

Now to figure out why my IDC's are so high at 92%. I suspect the in tank fuel hose...

That's great stuff. I love it.

What's TQ is the stock clutch rated for? Clutch upgrade next?

I don't know actually. I'm thinking about trying to bring the torque down. I plan on handing the car back in after two years. I'd love to not have to change the clutch.

As long as you don't launch or flat foot shift, I think the stock clutch will hold 400 ft-lbs DJ. It did in my Evo 9 even at 50K miles.

Yea, I have about 10k miles with 360 DJ TQ on my stock clutch and it holds fine. Also, I heard that taking out the restrictor pill can help with increasing longevity of the clutch (as long as you shift crisply and well).

Nice work! IMO you'll be fine with the stock clutch so long as your aren't drag racing/launching it.

Is the turbo on the Evo 10 the same from 2008 - 2014?

Run without lid

Really good post. Thanks for the great info

Is it worth doing a dyno run with the AEM lid removed to see if the snorkel is a restriction?

So I found out that you have to basically slam the Evo 10 if you don't want XXR's to stick out ghetto style in the rear... big bummer as I'm not planning on slamming the car so I think I might be selling these wheels. They look great other then that though. :-/

I need the ride height and the Spec R springs are pretty much perfect for me....

I'll try to get better photos over this weekend.

Ok,

MR Bilsteins, Swift Spec R springs, XXR 18x9.75 +20 wheels, Continental DWS 265/35/18 tires installed.

The Swift Spec R's barely lower the car. I was actually surprised how little they lowered the car. The XXR wheels stick out a little in the back, which I'm not happy about. Seems like these wheels need a slammed EVO with more negative rear camber to look better on. That's not my scene so I might sell these soon and get something with a little less aggressive specs.

The DWS tires and bilsteins really made the ride much better. I have to say though, I think the Spec R's are under damped with the OEM struts. Car is a bit more bouncy and floaty now.

Why the MRs and not an aftermarket coilover?
