2003 Evolution VIII 9sec "The Silver Sleeper" Build

Hi Everyone
I'm ready to post up my build currently and whats to come to get to the low 9s!

Backround
I purchased an Apex Silver 2003 VIII a while back. I drove it for two weeks, drained and lined the tank....and there she sat...

Here's some exterior shots right after I purchased it

I liked the wingless look but the small wing has a bit of class to it
However it had some knockoff vortex generator and a sun viser.....

The interior and engine bay were less than desirable to my taste as well.

THE GOAL
Build a 10 sec stock block EVO VIII
While building my 2.3 Race Block

Parts I have now are in my sig but some highlights are

FF Sheepey Vband w/ a 6262 JB
Spoolinup COP
Gimmspeed EBCS
Walbro 450 E85 pump
FIC 1450cc Injectors
AEM AFPR and Fuel Rail

And A spare 4g63 that I personally machined, honed and prepped for a Weisco high comp pistons
Turbo tuff rods
Acl bearings
Billet machined knife edged crank
Stm 650 cams
FIC 2150 hi z

Parts I have in mail are

Precision 6766 BB
Tourque solutions Motor Mounts
Tourque solutions suspension/ shifter bushings
Jacks race rebuild kit trans and tcase
Wavetrack diffs
QM 8 leg
"Secret wheel setup"
And
A full RTM fuel system -8 feed -6 return

So heres the plan and the story STAY TUNED

Okay so more today !
Pulled the old turbo assembly off
(Will have pics of the stocker tomorrow)
And got the new setup in minus a lower IC pipe being delivered.
Heres some shots going through install sorry they are terrible...I am picking up my camera tomorrow so I can get better shots.

Stage one loose mockup of piping ic and getting the turbo in place

Another good one!

I got the hard piping in for the turbo kit Sheepey is amazing and to Alex! Thank you so much
The fitment and quality is top notch!

Also I do have a vertical hood dump I personally decided to fab that will have a semi flapper
I should have pics mid week of that providing im not to swamped

Here I have the radiator hard mounted with spal fan front and rear/push pull whichever you prefer

Oil lines are routed however I noticed the kit is not OFH feed so I just bought a kit to be over nighted

Also my filter came while typing this haha

Tomorrow
Fuel injectors, fuel pump hard wire, oil, TB shaft seals and first startup!

Im holding off on AEM rail till my RTM kit arrives

And my sleeper wheels came today
(No peaking till on car)
Arp extended studs and spacers will be on Friday to help fill the gap for a clean look
Stay tuned

Good luck on the build.
Can't believe the damage to that wheel, that sucks. I was just thinking I should not buy cheap wheels for the Evo, even though I ran Rotas on other vehicles.

Haha.....when I bought it I told myself those XXR wheels gotta go
Im just happy they didn't fall apart before the new wheels came.
I haven't heard bad things about rotas though....lots of guys use them in drag racing.

Its definitely the way to go. I don't mind down time....but ive had an itch to build and drive this car. Im happy to be able to drive and have a block build going on so I can ease into the modifications I'm doing and verify all systems are working before I drop in a motor with very expensive parts and a whole lotta my time involved

Bummer... it's always good to do a thorough look over. I had my shop inspect the entire car and it was around......I'm more than sure it was due to some spirited driving on my estate grounds post purchase that broke mine. I jus didn't realize how flimsy they are

Ill have pics of the new ones today

Update!
So wheels are on

More pics of them on car to come

I got the injectior, afpr, and hardwire kit installations finalized
But I hit a snag once we fired the car I noticed it ran but AFPR reads 0psi
And any throttle causes car to die

So while I study what to do

I can just appreciate the final product

Hopefully I can get the car operational

Also I'm apologizing for my engine bay wiring and rust
I will be tucking and painting everything once motor goes in
But for now and just to drive (when it fire's) it's going to stay that way
.
More to come
10mm spacers and studs
TB and shaft seals
New fuel lines and rail
And tranny rebuild
All coming this week!

Update
Can't figure out fuel feed issue so...
I ordered a Strictly modified double pumper since I'd have to go dual wally 450s, an inline 044, and surge tank anyways to accomplish what I want to with my car.
I have a new exhuast coming in
And my new replacement koyo rad will be coming in on wed.
Fuel feed and return line kit and other
Goodies on the way
And tomorrow ill get some pics of my fuel feed and return hardline disassembly.
Mire to.come
