Sorry for my ignorance, but what's rare/special about these JDM mirrors? I was under the impression that all Evo mirrors folded?

These fold automatically when voltage is applied to them. So you could wire them up to turn off when the car shuts off and turns on or with the press of a button.

That would be something you would need to figure out - I bought the sets with the intention of hardwiring them to a hidden switch and running a custom setup but never got around to it. Only bench tested them and then put them away on my "to do but never got around to" shelf.....
