96000 km Service

Anyone have this done? How much did you pay.
My main concern is the timing belt. Went in today to get it done and they were saying it would cost around $500 to get it checked and changed, and $1100 for the whole 96000 Km service. I think it was a mistake on his part.

Now this was a dealer that was a GM dealership about a month ago and recently became a Mitsubishi dealership when KW Mitsubishi became a KIA.

2008+ has a timing chain...
but if you do have a timing belt, those are expensive to replace. I think that is almost a thousand itself including the labor...

I'm almost positive you have a timing chain. 08+ lancers don't come with belts.

Ill have to find out so more, mine is a 09 GT lancer same as yours. Does the clutch matter if you have a chain or belt?

If it is the chain what service is required for it?

I take that back. I'm sure thee must be some service, but not like a timing belt (which you would have to replace). But I think there is only service if there is some problem with it. So you should be ok.

Ya... I think all you do with a timing chain is check it to see if it stretched too much. But I think there's a sensor to monitor that.

Go to Cambridge Mitsu, they've been in the business longer,, they seem to have a decent attitude towards aftermarket too,, they advertise audio installations on their window :P

I'm kind of skeptical about Stockie, since they were a GM dealer not too long ago,,, keep in mind GM took a lot of franchises away as part of their re-org,, my guess is they probably revoked franchises from the lower performing shops...
