Running E85 in Canada??
Hey guys,
So im looking at buying an evo 9 from the US that is tuned on E85. I hear nothing but good things about E85. Fuel consumption is a bit worse but other then that it seems like the way to go. Ive always heard rumors about a gas station in Guelph that sells E85. I looked into it and found a company called UPI. They sell E85 as well as other gas blends. The company looks very legit and they have multiple stations around Canada. The price for E85 is the same as regular gas. Considering gas mileage is worse on E85 im thinking the price difference between E85 and Ultra 94 would even out for the extra consumption. Now Guelph is still 40 minutes away from me so im looking into purchasing a 55 Gallon drum and keeping it in my garage. The car will only see summer and therefore filling up doesnt concern me too much. The seller of the car also sais that the car can be tuned for pump gas with the use of map switching. What do you guys think. Can anyone chime in with some E85 knowledge regarding consistencies in the fuel, how long the fuel can be stored without going bad and any other precautions/opinions.
Here is a link to the company:

Personally I've always thought storing fuel was a bad idea but as far as degradation, I wouldn't worry about it. 55 gallons won't last very long LOL
btw have you imported a car from the US before? Is it a major hassle?

I think storing that much fuel in a private home needs a special permit. Call your local building department and insurance company.
Ive seen this garage before when driving through Guelph, it looks pretty good, never knew they sell E85

My last 3 cars were from the US. It definitely is a bit of a hassle. You have to be well prepared with all the documentation and paper work. Then theres all the fees and taxes....

sooo...If gas mileage is worse on E85.... and there arent enough gas stations out there that have it....Why would anyone tune on E85? I suggest looking for non E85...Seems like too much of a hassle

E85 on a stock turbo Evo with boltons easily does 400/400 all day. Race fuel basically
People run e85 cuz its better for environment and it's such a crazy power in crease. Wish we had it everywhere. And it's only 33% worst fuel mileage but 20% less then regular. It's pretty even for huge gains. The downside is the entire fuel system has to be redone and a crazy pump and inj installed.
