RaceComp Engineering Project Spec Miata

RaceComp Engineering Project Spec Miata
Well, we finally got sick of looking at Mike's battered, broken Miata sitting out in front of the shop so we decided to bring it back to life. He bought the car about a year ago with a freshly rebuilt motor so it was the perfect candidate for a Spec Miata buildup.
Soon after getting the car, he stripped everything out of the interior and located a factory hardtop. He also added Kazera wheels with shaved RA1s and Hawk Blue pads. Turns out the rotors don't like Hawk Blues too much when they are cold They were worn down enough that the front pistons pushed all the way out of the calipers and released all of the brake fluid from the system. This happened on the way to go karting one day and he had to drive all the way home using only the e-brake. He got the car back to the shop and it's been sitting ever since...until now.
First, we pulled it in the shop and got it up on jackstands. I then used my ninja detailing skillz to clay, buff, and wax it, which really brought the paint back to life. We also took off the ugly black pinstriping to prepare for some big RaceComp logos. Here is how the car sits now:
The brakes are still destroyed and the suspension is still stock but that's the next order of business. A set of brand new stock rotors and calipers are going on all 4 corners, which will be followed by coilovers and swaybars (all to comply with Spec Miata rules of course). Here's what the brakes and suspension look like now:
Yikes...anyways, if all goes well Mike will be racing by next year (that's a scary thought ) Who knows, maybe we can have a Team RaceComp at one of the NASA or SCCA endurance races next year. We will keep this thread updated as the project moves along.

haha....well....not quite.
It's got it's wheels on now but it admittedly still needs a lot of love. We've fixed some camber issues and started working on the brakes. I think this winter we'll see a lot more progress and hope to have it track ready by the spring time.
