STM's Evo is ready for the Shootout! Are you?
Just wanted to post an update on our 05 Evo:
Since our last pass at our local 1/4 mile track in Leicester of 10.1@137, we haven't been able to run due to our lack of a roll cage, but we've been finding time to tune it here and there. We are having a hard time turning the "RICER" into a full-blown race car and we just aren't ready to tear it up with a roll cage yet!
We are certaintly hoping to get this stock-block 4g63 motor to see a 9 second pass! As of now, this Evo is the fastest and quickest stock-block Evo in the world and I would personally like to see it as the fastest stock-block 4g63 in the world!
I've had some unconfirmed reports of someone's DSM running a low 10 on a stock motor- if anyone has anymore information on the fastest stock-block dsm's, I would like to see what has been done.
When I say "stock motor" I mean the head has never been off the block. Stock head gasket, stock internals, rods, pistons, no porting, stock valves... It does have ARP head studs and 272 cams.
None-the-less, we plan on building the motor after this season, I think after the shootout we will have pressed this motor to it's limits and, most likely, way beyond!
Here's some pics! :thumb:
We just put on the Japanese Evo IX rear bumper...
Hope to see you all at the shootout!

10.1@142!
Not a 9 yet, but she's still running strong...
Here's an edited video I put together last night Click IT! Click to watch!

We had a problem blowing out plugs most of the day and only ran half track, letting out when it started blowing out. We got somemuch appreciated help from Dave Buschur who gave us new coils to try on our coil-on-plug... That fixed the problem!
We got in 2 great passes, both 10.1@142!
This car has 45,xxx miles on the STOCK bottom end. The head has never been off. Under the valve cover, we added ARP head studs and 272 cams. That's it. We are determined to see what this little 4g63 is really made of!
Last time at the track we ran 10.1@137, so we picked up a few mph, but because we have no cage in the car, we are limited to track time... wish we could have gotten in just a few more passes at Norwalk... I think The Ricer has what it takes to get there. Just need a little more time...
I don't even know how to thank all you guys who helped and supported us at the shootout. We were completely blown away with the kindness we found in all of you. It was truly amazing!
I couldn't have asked for a better time! Between the 40 of us going to dinner at Roadhouse, the 12 of us sleeping in the Honeymoon suite (yep, mirrored ceilings and all) Doolie waking up Tin and Mike with the airhorn All of Tin's goodies he brought... I wouldn't have survived without that green Monster!
Seriously, best time. We had the most kick-*** spot to hang out- under a sweet tent with a sweet STM banner! Mike slinging parts all day.
There was so much going on and I am so grateful to have a group of friends such as yourselves!
Thank you guys and girls SO much! I can't wait for the next shootout!
And like I said, there are a TON more pics:!
