I have the identical setup as you do, minus the AMS gate selector bushing. I'm running Redline MT-85, which has made my shifts notchy, so I will have to go to another fluid. However, on the odd occasion that the fluid is working, this is the best shifting manual that I've ever driven, hands down. I love the GRAB knob too, it's perfect.

not sure about a short shifter, last one i did was in my 2005 SRT-4 (very easy) but not sure if i want to try it in the x... like alot of you guys i baby it a bit when it not just bolt-ons.
I bought my fluid and bushings through MAP. The installation wasn't really that hard at all; just take your time and go slow, it's fairly straight forward.

MT-85 is too thick for the X, it was designed to meet VIII/IX spec. Use the same cocktail I'm running and I'm sure it'll be better.

i have been thinking to switch the fluids from oem to try something else in my IX.. my shifter is notchy but at the same time im hesitating because my fluid is only 3-4k miles old.. i dont want to waste money because people say these cars naturally have notchy shifts

I changed my X's tranny fluid at 1,200 miles, its not a waste of money at all, you'll be impressed.

I know the feeling, driving off the dealership lot I thought, "OMG, this shifter is garbage!" I'm not sure why Mitsu sucks so bad at making a decent shifter, but I'm glad WORKS was able to get it right for them.

No problem, I still have a love for all Evos, and have spent many hours wrenching on my buddy's IX recently!

So did you lubricate the urethane bushings with the lithium grease? I'm not sure because the instructions didn't say to.

I always use grease, but I don't think its necessary.
