HELP: AEM failsafe

Hi Guys,

I am from australia and tried to order the jack of the trades harnes, I then found out shipping was $95 bucks so I was not impressed.

I then went to Wiki and found the wirin diagram for the alt map harness, I made this and it works perfectley in theory, I am currently trying to find a wiring diagram showing How I integrate the AEM failsafe wire into the harness to swap back to safe maps if it detects a problem.

If anyone knows how to wire it in it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Dale

Hi tephra it has a green wire that grounds when failsafe is active.

I was thinking of using a car relay and if grounded it would stop all power to the harness. What do you think?

Um no I think it just grounds itself. It's actually a boost control release valve line that you can use to vent all boost if system has failure.

I read a forum that used the at relay to switch on or off. But I thought I would ask here as jot ha created a harness for this injection kit and I already have the harness I just need to know how to wire the aem to the harness and if it uses a relay ect.

hrmm thats a bit of a pain... an idea on how much current it can carry?

you would need get a relay between battery positive and the AEM failsafe line

the relay contacts would then need to connect the JoT harness (5v output) to the ECU...

Thanks NS,

So if I use the harness with 12+ power routed through a standard relay and when the aem failsafe kicks in it will cut out the 12v power therfore switching the maps?

Is there a way I can implement the relay to also toggle a failsafe switch that will not let power run back through the harness until I let it?

^^that post was made in 2010. I've been looking for this info for about 16 months now for using the stock ECU, DevilsOwn stage 2 methanol kit, and the AEM failsafe gauge. and looking at the diagram, it makes sense and I will be testing it soon to see if it works for my needs.
