Looking for desert alky advice

I'm looking for any/all specific advice concerning meth/alky use in the Tucson/Phoenix area (or any really hot low humidity climate for that matter).

What are you guys/gals using for actual injectable, where do you source, which alky kit, what size nozzle, what %, and any other info that might be useful in my battle with ACN91.

Thanks,
Jim in Tucson

Wow, 15 people read my post, but not a one had an opinion on alky, meth, etc. in the desert. We have the worst possible gas in the country. I would presume there to be a wealth of alky injection advice in Arizona, CA, and Nevada.

Do you use alky or meth? Do most of you use it straight? Mixed with H2O? What precentage? Where is the best place to buy? Which size nozzle? Which injection system?

Thanks,
Jim

I had Coolingmist kit on my STi. Forgot which size of nozzle it was, but it comes standard with the kit and is good for stock turbo. I mix it with distilled water 50/50. You can source pure methanol from your local race fuel distributor. I bought it from Western States Patroleum in central Phoenix. Cost is around $4/gal (don't remember exactly).
Hope this helps.

with meth injection on stock turbo you pick up 30whp and 40wtq typically...it varies from dyno to dyno and tuner to tuner...

CC,

I'm sure you've seen some of the recent chatter concerning corrosive effects of meth. What is your take on the negatives of using meth?

What about alky? Is it safer? How much less in power than your "30whp and 40wtq" estimate? Is alky half as beneficial? 75%?

Thanks,
Jim

If your running a hydra standalone, they have a badazz water injection kit that works in conjunction with the standalone. It's called hydra mist. It has all the fail safe precautions that work off the standalone.

Well 100% meth is pretty corrosive but you would really need to spray like a 100gallons I would think before you saw any negative effects...I did over 60 with 50% in a year and my motor was fine when I pulled it apart...I suggest running between 50 and 75% and calling it a day...you can run denatured as well but its also a lot more money per gallon...
