Project Evolution Version X – Intro
Background:
For those who don’t know me, I used to be the co-owner of EvolutionM. My passion for the evo dates back decades and to its early years in rally racing. EvolutionM was created, as a concept to bring together all those who were passionate about the Evo into one place, in order to develop a knowledge based community.
After a long hiatus away from the site, I’ve decide to start another project car and document the process along the way.
So is everyone ready for a new project car? I know I am.
Specs:
Car: 2014 Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR
Color: White
Notable Options: Leather, Sound Package, and Sunroof
Starting Weight: 3500lbs ~
The Goal: The ultimate street/track hybrid.
Why: The original project Evo was all track focus with no street compromises. I still have the car and enjoy it on track, but I really do miss driving it on the street. This new project car not only needs to perform on track, but also be compliant on the street. If the suspension is too harsh or the exhaust is deafening on the highway, then changes will need to happen.
Rules: bolt ons, stock bottom end, 93 octane with occasional 110 octane fun or e85, stock transmission case, full interior, high quality parts, must past family test, and all season capable.
Full Disclosure: I sort of jumped ahead and already purchased AMS Performance’s STX300 Package. Outside of that, no other purchases have been made. Stay tuned for the review of the STX300 upgrade.
