06 Lancer SE

So I've finally decided to start doing stuff to my car. I got my lancer brand new back in 06 and I am just now beginning to do anything to it. It's the special edition model which is basically the ES version but with alloy wheels, nicer interior and sunroof.

With nothing too drastic, I began work on my car by installing oe mud flaps and exhaust tip. Then I noticed that the front rotors and rear drums were getting rusty, so I sand blasted them and spray painted them red along the front brake calipers using caliper paint. After the winter I decided that this summer I would do a lot more to my car.

First I knew that wanted to go with a 15" rim and lower the car. I went with the new enkei92 in gold and 15x8 mounted with 205/50-15 falken ze-512. I wanted to go with that size so there would be little stretch with a decent amount of sidewall. As for the falkens, I don't need that great of tires at the moment and they will get me where I need to go.

For lowering the car, I decided to go with the BC racing coilovers BR model. It was a toss up between these and Megan coilovers, but after some research I went with these because they seemed to be more durable and less noisy.

The other day I decided to install my coilovers after work. The fronts were insanely easy to install; however, the rears didn't happen. The bottom bolt that held the bottom of the rear strut would not come out. It didn't want to turn even after using an air gun and hammering. I did some research and learned that this happens a lot. I called the local mechanic and they said that they could get it off using a torch but the bolt may break. So I called mitsubishi and they said that they could get me replacement bolts on monday. So now I have to wait for those bolts before the mechanic can begin doing anything. For now, I just have the front coilovers installed. I had to raise them up to be level with the rear.

After i get the rear coilovers installed, I plan on lowering it a lot more and rolling the fenders. I have a buddy that has a fender roller so that will really help. Also, I am looking right now to get my windows tinted all around to 35% because its legal now to have both front and back tinted up to that much.

Concerning the coilovers on the fronts, the dampening is set 10 from softest setting. The ride is a little stiffer but overall not that much different from stock.

Gonna look interesting when it's lowered. VW style

Can't wait till you lower it...low and slow.

I was just looking at the enkei 92 for my ride on craigslist but no dinero...:(.

Update...

Got my rear coilovers installed and lowered the car the other day. The coilovers are BC Racing. I had been looking around to get ralliart body kit but I'm still debating if its worth it. As for the drop, I can still go an inch lower in the rear and 2 inches in the front. At the moment, I'm not getting any rubbing on either front or rear unless I hit a huge pothole or crappy rail road tracks.

I say go a bit lower. It would make it look way better than what it does now.

I really don't like the wheels, and I think it needs to be WAY lower if you are going for the stanced look.

I was able to roll the rear fenders with my buddy's fender roller and a heat gun. the left side turned out perfect but the right side was a little messed up. Just yesterday, I lowered the front about an inch to 2 inches and added anti seize on the threads of my coilovers. But after a day of driving around I figured that I need to raise it up a little because the tires were rubbing at times and over certain bumps/railroad tracks. Unfortunately, I had no time today and probably won't get to it til sunday.

and heres a pic of the rear coilover.

Here's a pic of the fronts lowered to give a more even stance.
