Johnnycage's RA

Well I figure now that my ride has new rims and rubber, its time to post a photo. Next up, performance mods. I'll have to check out the track RalliartN and Crans have talked so much about.

looks good. keep it up man! white ftw!

Very nice! The wheels flow well with the car. Also your muffler fitment looks perfect. I actually don't mind the factory tails on white RA's either.

THIS ^^^ :D

She does look very nice. I like the wheels quite a bit too. Any future plans for it?

Thanks guys! Next on the list is an air intake, different headers and possibly lowering. Going slow with it and will see whats next after that.

One thing I will say, these new wheels have been a pain in the but. Had to get one of them refinished cus my friend did some crazy lip damage. The fixed one is the rear in the photo. Also I'm having vibration issues after balancing. Going back to a local shop this morning to have them recheck them. I have hub rings so I thought they would be fine after balancing but they're not. Still get extra vibration after 100km/hr. One of the wheels needed a ton of weight so my guess is that its the culprit.

Well I'm taking a plunge. Doing the timing belt, water pump and pulleys today. Also putting on new rotors and brake pads. My current rotors and pads are in baddddd condition. I put it off for a year but can't anymore. The belt, water pump and pulleys should have been done by the previous owner but weren't so I gotta do em before something blows up!

O_O holy crap that is a lot of money. I guess I should be thankful my father in law is a mechanic. I only spent $400 maybe to do the same exact thing you did.

Raikiri May 1, 2013 10:47 AM

ouch. should've just done the pads/rotors yourself and saved yourself a good amount of cash o.o they're probably one of the simpler things to do on the car also.

johnnycage May 1, 2013 12:43 PM

Yeah I should have tried to do it myself especially since I think I want to paint the part of the rotors that usually rust. They also did my brake fluid and flushed then replaced the engine coolant. All labor for that stuff with the brakes and pads was only $374 so I figured, since I'm getting them to do the other stuff, why not.

The only annoying part is that these aftermarket wheels after being balanced a couple times now, are still giving me vibration on the hiway. I have hub rings so I'm not getting why its still an issue. I'm going back to the mechanic again tomorrow. Maybe I have to take the car to a performance shop and have them speed balance them instead. I don't know though, this is all pretty new to me.

bakuro117 May 1, 2013 12:49 PM

Ouch... That is a good chunk of change... That hurts my wallet just thinking about it.

I think Im going to start painting my rotors from now on. I spend good money on the zinc coated ones I have now and the zinc just wore off and they are starting to rust now too. :(

I try to do as much of the work on my car myself as i can. Ive never once had a good experience with a mechanic of any sort... :/

Glad you made a thread Johnny {thumbup} Your car looks like its on its way, what kind of brakes/pads did you get ? I just installed some EBC rotors /EBC red stuff pads on the galant, the only gripe I had was those damn oem Phillips head screws that were filled  Anyway keep it up and keep the pics coming :mitsu:

Thanks Lanzer. EBC's are pretty nice from what I've seen! Mine were just premium nappa ones.

Hey Lanzer, after the break in etc, post up on how you find the Redstuff pads please.
Which discs did you get ? And did you replace all four or fronts only ?
