Lancer Ralliart 2006 to evo IX body kit
5 Attachment(s)
Hi, my friend Joseph is working on this build and I will be posting the pictures of the status of this build {thumbup}
This is a long history, maybe you are thinking why don't just buy an EVO IX, but here in Mexico we have a big issue, Mitsubishi only sent 100 EVOs IX to the country on 2006, then they are very dificult to find and they are very expensive (we never received EVOs VIII too), in my case I'm a lucky man because I could buy one of those 100 but my friend Joseph could not get it, he always say me: "I buy your evo", but I always say: sorry is not for sale, :D, then Joseph decided to build his Lancer ralliart with the EVO body kit and I helped him to check the details between the both chasis. The first step is the body kit and the wheels, he bought wide front fenders (20mm+ front, 35mm+ rear) to fit Battle wheels 18x9.5 +15offset with 265-35-18 tires. Second step is Install T3T4 turbo kit he wants 350 hps! Third step is buy Recaro seats and Brembo brakes to complete the build. For now the first step is on going and here are the pictures, I will add more on the week depending of the work on that. This is epic! I'd love to see more of this project too! What is the plan for the rear fenders?
|
In Canada we got zero Evo viii/ix, but it's fairly easy to import them.
is it not possible to import to mexico? |

About rear fenders, the plan is install a wide quater panels that are made for the Lancer Evo IX original body (35mm+), and they will be used as base for the evo tailights, I will post the pics of this when it is installed on the car, for now the front is being detailed to fit the JDM headlights and the bumper because the Ralliart chasis is little different in some points, I will post more pics when the front is completed ,
Thanks to follow this thread! {thumbup} And those wheels will look awesome on there! :D |

I'm glad your one that keeps posting pictures and updates but more importantly that you came to share something different. To many times there are just people posting their problems wanting help.
|
Im curious as to what he's going to do about the front bumper since the evo bumper is wider than ours.

Update!!!
The headlights are in process, on this week we will see all the front ready to be detailed and painted I think {thumbup} Attachment 277904 Attachment 277905 Attachment 277906 |
Some points to consider on this front build:
1.- The oem hood hinges of the Lancer 2004-2006 are different then when we installed the EVO IX hood it did not fit correctly, then we bought used ones from a 2002 lancer ES model and all was good. 2.- To fit the headlights the SRS sensor airbags had to be removed and relocated 3.- The part that close the hood had to be modified because the EVO hood has in other way the lock 4.- Front impact bars need to be replace them from EVO IX oem one to fit the EVO bumper and inter-cooler(you can leave it without the bar if you want) 5.- The EVO headlight's connectors are not compatible with oem ones is necessary go to the dealer to install the conversion cables. 6.- Also to fit headlights you need to install custom resistant pins. :D |
good luck with the build, is he planning on making this thing all wheel drive?

Lol nah in 2 fast 2 furious that was a base model lancer fitted with evo panels like what is happening here.
I'm wondering the same as Cranswick though. Are those the Evil-R widebody panels? Or something else? |

Thanks for the comments!, those are a wide rear panels for the original EVO body, but we are using it to get more wider than EVO oem body.
You can see the panels on AIT Racing page: http://www.aitracing.com/Body-Kits/B...tion-2003-2007 Attachment 277008 |

get out the rear impact bar. |
This is gonna be awesome! Stoked to see how everything turned out. Are you going to be working on the internals too? Engine, transmission, drivetrain, etc? This is such an awesome project man!

- Brembo brakes - Turbo (with stock internals to get like 250 hps) - conversion to AWD - Forged internals to get 300 or more hps For now we are not thinking in a EVO engine swap, just we would like to see the power of the 2.4 Ralliart engine. :D |

That's what I like to hear! Swapping in an EVO engine just kills off the Ralliart heart of our beloved cars. Not that there's something wrong with EVO engines. I just think that our Ralliarts should be its own self! {thumbup}
Keep up the good work, my friend! |
This is looking great so far!

Look up mitsuorder's 4g69 build. May give you some ideas when you go to strengthen the block. He swaps an Evo 9 head on, forged internals, and ends up making HP in the upper 700 range I think.

Oh I wasn't suggesting he push it that far. I just thought he could get some ideas and excellent info from the thread. 400 is an awesome goal.
|
About Recaro seats, we have access to buy a used EVO X ones, what do you think?
Last week I could check them in the local Mitsubishi dealer in an EVO X 2014 and those seats are very nice, maybe little more than the EVO 9 seats. |
evo 8/9 leather would fit the generation better...though an Evo 8/9 wing looks pretty good on an X...seats from an X could look good in the old school :p
|
i say go with these bad boys...
http://image.motortrend.com/f/380732...caro-seats.jpg i want those in my car ahaha! but i dont think my girl will be comfy in a bucket seat while putting on make up on the highway...LOL! |
Those ones looks really sick!, but we could get the GSR's seats.

project is looking awesome. I'm a previous Ralliart owner and I know how hard is to get EVOs specially in countries like Mexico where they are so expensive and rare. In Puerto Rico they are expensive too and cost of living is expensive so having an EVO can be very luxurious. Keep the good work. There is always that group of people who laugh and dont believe you can make it. Those are the moments where you sit down, shut up your mouth and work even harder. Then pictures will speak by themselves. KEEP THE AWESOME WORK.

believe on this project but here in the garage we know that is possible and is going good, maybe slow but keep walking {thumbup} |
good job so far, keep it up.

This is a full conversion project I can respect. If the local rules don't allow you to have something you dream of that does no harm, take matters into your own hands and do it yourself. Keep up the good work!

looks good man...
hope it looks awesome in the end and performs even better than expected(after the engine work){thumbup} keep up the good work guys! |
How far are you all planning to take this conversion? Are you going to attempt an AWD swap as well?
|
no problem man,i cant wait to see the final product.one last thing how about the wheel space in the fenders,i noticed that previous conversions, the wheel is further up and not directly centered.

Those spaces are being filled using aluminum then the structure generated is very resistant. We had to re-fiberglass the fenders because they were very fragile  then we had the idea to add more fiberglass to get a good quality in resistant body and we got the level that we were looking for  About the quarter panels the plan is molding to get a clean and oem body. |

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...body-evo14.jpg could be an ES by the 4 nuts in the wheels but I'm not sure if the nuts configuration or suspension can have that effect but for our car we did not get that space in the wheels and the fenders. We are using KYB shocks with Eibach springs :) |
