As some of you may know my GF has a tiburon that i put on the RIPP SDS. It has the boost cooler as well. I've ran into a problem though... i can't find the de icer anywhere.

I'm supposed to get Prestone De-icer but it's totally NOT AVAILABLE at local stores. My last to check with be PepBoys. Walmart, Autozone, Kragen, 76gas station, Arco, Shell, etc... non of them have it.

I read on the RIPP site that windshield washer can be used but it needs to say methanol type. Well non of them have that info on them. Also all of them are like knock off brands!

In all i'm probably going to have to order it... Keep this in mind CALI guys. If you're gonna get the SDS for the Ralliart make sure you source that coolant. What a pain in the ***.

If anyone has a location for it in CALI let me know... Thanks.

Yeah i've found it on there. My biggest gripe is that i was told i could find it everywhere and thus far THAT'S NOT TRUE!! It's actually a real pain but these are the things you find out after you buy something i guess.

At any rate atleast people in Cali and warmer climates will know to keep their stock up or order ahead of time. Most look at me like i'm crazy when i ask for De-Icer... their say "You know you live in California right?"

 

Maybe you should ask for a snow shovel too.....

 

hold on, you let your g/f buy a sc for her tiboron from ripp?? Dude, thats jacked up, you don't deserve a g/f, send her over to my house. I'll give her an apline SC that will make her say sweet bucket who?? lol, no but I'm with you, why doesn't RIPP just give it to her with the kit?? Not like it would really cost them anything.

 

Off-topic, but...

I got the same look when I went looking for a pair of shorts in November to replace my worn-out ones. No stores around here carried shorts. When I asked why not, the all said, "Winter's coming." I asked if they stopped selling pants in April, and they said, "Of course not. Some people wear pants all year."

Well, some people wear shorts all year, too. Even up here.

The prestone de icer they are talking about is a windsheild washer fluid! I get mine from wallmart. It has a big sing saying "MELTS 3X MORE ICE". And on the back it has a warning toxic label saying " CONTAINS METHONAL (67-56-1) AND ETHONAL (107-21-1) IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH! It is kind of a off yellow and has a bright yellow sticker. But it may not be available in the south west!

 

yeah walmart didn't have it either... i've checked even paint supply stores. Finally i said screw it and just ordered it off the net.

I asked my uncle, he's a chemical supply guy, and he said it's hard to find in California period as they have some major restrictions on it. Guess Methanol is highly flammable. Anyway 15+ 8shipping=23 bucks for a gallon. She went thru the first stuff damn fast so i'm gonna order more at the end of the month. Dang that stuff is going to add up.

Oh and as for the comment on my GF buying the kit... she makes more money than me and i make plenty... so if she wants to buy the kit i'm not against it for sure. Besides she did let me research it for her.

Oh well... she's probably going to sell the car anyway. She's pissed that i still smoked her with my Ralliart. Running the race gas map at 8psi and my car is uncontrollable. The Tibby SC isn't so impressive and from what i've discovered you gotta put in some more cash for it to be.

She's gonna get a G35 and put the Stillen kit on it... they make like 400whp with those and you get to drive in luxury. God she makes to much money...

 

Is this the v6 tibby or the 4 cylinder?

That sucks. My local Autozone has it for $2.99 a gallon. I saw it on Amazon, and I think with shipping its a little below $20.

 

yeup it does suck... but whatcha gonna do? I figured i'd just let the cali guys know that the "It's available everywhere!" isn't true. Unless you just want to trust a no-name brand of windshield fluid?


Besides i'll have the kit off in a week or so... She's already purchased the G35 yesterday. Should have it by next week and we're trading the tibby in without the SC. I'm sure one of the guys off new tiburon boards will scoop it up quick.
