Got the head off this past weekend, been really busy with work and stuff around the new house. Also got the transmission together a couple of times with the spacer in place I was able to get the preload to .1-.2 mm. Going to make a couple of calls to transmission shops to see if they have a thicker spacer I could have or buy. ordered a input shaft seal might as well change it while I have it all apart

You really can't tell from the pictures but all the valves were hit and are slightly bent some even got hit a second time, pistons don't look to bad but the valves will need replacing I have the spare engine I might just swap heads plan to do that this weekend

that sucks dude...I can't even imagine how lucky I was to have not bent any valves when my timing belt failed...

about the diff, this has got me very intrigued, as with my Quaife, and RalliartN's Quaife, both times the original spacer ended up within spec...when you measure the solder, what measurement were you getting?

I finally got around to ripping the head off of the white car. Cylinder 1 and 4 were untouched in mine, Cylinder 2 and 3 however have impact marks from both intake and exhaust valves. Dunno how that happened...

Good luck with the head swap if you havent already done it. Im going to put mine together this week and go ahead with all the mods. Ive hit a wall with my turbo configuration though. Cant wait to see more of your build once you get past this.

Measurement is between .2-.3 mm the tool I have only does .1 increments. I put a level over my old diff and the wavetrac and its just slightly smaller

holy ****, that's huge...do you know anyone with a micrometer? the largest you can order from Mitsubishi is 1.25mm, and the part number is MD710457.

I'm going to go buy one today so I can see what it is to the nearest hundredth. Would it be Ok to use two spacers? The one I have is .86

Its going real slow for me because there's just so much going on, work around the house, taking care of the pool stuff, maintaining the truck I just bought and the wife's car, and of course family time hahaha there's not enough time in the day

I don't know if using two is a good idea...I mean, I suppose it could work...

Went and bought a mechanical micrometer and measured all pieces of solder that I had and they are all .020 inches which converts to .5 mm which is within spec. Now I just have to find the input shaft seal for the transmission and get it back together.

Hope you guys enjoy this update as much as I did. Doesn't look like starter fitment would be a issue but looks like the a/c compressor might be to close and I might need to get rid of it..what do you guys think?
