The Importance of a Cold Air Intake Filter

So I've been around for quite some time here on this forum, but I actually have a question that I'm not sure has been answered yet. I have a Injen CAI on my car for almost 2 years already and I love it. The thing is, I never did anything since then. I never cleaned the filter (not sure if you're even supposed to) and or even considered buying a new one. Will a clean/new intake filter help my car breath better? possibly better gas mileage? and also, say I use the RRM replacement filter instead of buying a new Injen one, will it make a difference in sound or would it be too little to notice the difference? thanks for any comments or answers

I thought injen used amsoil filters. I would check on that. If so I believe you can get a cleaning kit for them. Supposed to clean/replace it about once a year.

if you can clean it, clean it. if there are rips in it or anything pick up a K&N from any carparts store and it should come with a cleaning kit.

INJEN does use AMSOIL dry cone filters, some of the systems are using the filter tested in this community where AMSOIL offered very good power to be gainned over K&N, and many other mayor brands here.

i think our filters are shippng for a very competitive price overall compared to others if compared to the power we and they are offering and giving its a dry filter and there is no need of a 10 dollar re-clean kit like K&N requires every so often.
