It did without it. The hole in both pistons has different deepness. The longer piston (OEM RA) has a deeper hole in it. So basically, if you could x-ray my pic, placing both pistons seal to seal, the bottom of the piston hole would be at the same spot on both pistons.
It works flawlessly to this day.

I'm wondering what would happen if you were to tap the hole leading to the silly little plate area, and thread-lock a bolt into it to seal it off. No more black gunk from the plate seal, but would anything change as far as MC function? Anyone with a spare/dead MC care to give it a try?

Very nice post!!! I have the same issue, the only issue I am in Costa Rica then it is not so easy to find the parts... do you know what is the # part? What is the best option-price in the internet?
