OEM release bearing vs. aftermarket
Hey guys, I've been putting up with my car chirping at me long enough and I'm going to replace the throw out/release bearing through work before spring (as well as a a/c compressor thats been tapping potentially involved in an TSB). I'll be replacing the clutch with an aftermarket performance kit and a lightweight flywheel while the mechanics are down there anyways to that aspect over and done with. What I want to know is if the OEM release bearing has any kind of gain over an aftermarket TOB that comes with a clutch kit or vice versa. I don't want to hear that chirp for a looong time. I told my work (which also happens to be my servicing dealership, woop deals) I'll be supplying the parts, RRM recently started offering the OEM release bearing for a decent price, but should I worry about replacing a clutch kit TOB or not?
Or as far as some of you might be concerned they come out of the same factory anyways  Let me know! thanks. |
How miles are you at?
|
** I don't mean performance gains in the original post, just which one holds up better **
And I'm sitting at about 47 500 miles or 76 500km |
It really depends on the clutch you get i suppose.
I put aftermarket in an mine still makes noise. |
nerdbot..
1. Use Mitsu TOB 2.I have a clutch and flywheel for sale for damn cheap. Especially with you being in Canada. :D |
Nerd, if you decide to sell your oem clutch and flywheel please let me know
Ralliartize, you have pm. |
Does it seem to matter what kind of TOB goes into our cars or do they all end up sounding like an orchestra of crickets haha.. GearDown, how do you mean what kind of clutch??

Strange but my master cylinder has been fine for 2 years on a stage 3 clutch.
As for the rest of my transmission though it's toast....new bearings for input shaft /output shaft /rear main seal/slave cylinder and new clutch/flywheel. |
