Low RPM's
Does anyone else notice when you turn your car on or sometimes just driving when you pull up to stop the RPM's dip below the 500 RPM's and struggle to get up to 1000......I notice this sometimes at night with the lights and stereo on, but the battery and alternator should be able to handle the power no problem....also, sometimes in the morning or at night when it's a little cold, when i pull up to a stop sign and brake it does the same thing...is this normal??...should i have the battery or alternator checked??...is it cuz it's cold out???.....or should i just not care???... :spin:

Could a hypergrounding kit/diy grounding kit help this? Just a suggestion. It's suppose to smooth out the idle.

How high would you like it to idle? I would assume you are talking about the idle speed, because mine idles at around 500 sometimes less, sometimes more. I never seem to have any hesitation problems so I don't worry about it. 500rpm is a pretty good idle. Unless you are dropping to like 1-200rpm I would not be too concerned.

When it first starts up on a cold morning, it sits a little over 1000 for a little bit, then drops. Usually though, it idles slightly below the 1000 mark, and it seems ok to me.

Look under the hood, there should be an idle spec there. Usually it's 750-850rpm. If the idles dip and the car struggles to bring it up it's usually a problem with the Idle Speed Controller.
I doubt a grounding kit would help unless the new lancer's have ****ty factory grounds. In which case you could make up a kit yourself for a lot less than they're sold for online. |
