Question Essential Speed for Ralliarts

I am new to this forum and noticed that no one has posted anything about Essential Speed and Toronto250plus, these guys are out of Ontario Canada and do performance intakes, exhausts and turbos for the lancer ralliart, Looks impressive! I was wondering if anyone out there has dealt with these guys or used any of there products?

thanks,
jmano

there has been lots of talk about them before, but no one that i know of has their turbo. they are asking alot for something that hasnt really been proven (to us). thus, its only logical to wait for the RRM kit. its only gonna be a few more weeks before it should be done!

Toronto250 was on here all the time a few months ago. A search should bring up most of his posts.

their work looks good for everything but the exhaust side. the intake work looks very well done, but the exhaust header doesnt look like it bolts to the turbo. instead, it looks like it straddles the turbo. it looks like the head is 2 parts: one for the exhaust directly out of the engine. This piece seems to bolt (or weld) to the turbo. Then, on the other side of the turbo, it looks like it feeds the rest of the header to the left and down, then back.

so for the air to escape the engine, it has to do the following:

come out the exhaust valves and expand into the 4 header ports.
somehow make its way to the right of the header and compress again to get into the turbine
make a 90 degree turn to the left
mak a 90 degree turn down
make a 90 degree turn back
get through the exhaust

this seems like alot of work. the head pipes are not lengthed evenly, which usually causes instability in higher RPM's. The path taken by the exhaust introduces alot of restriction.

anyway, $4300 (USD) for 6psi and 60-75wph isnt that good of a deal. From stock, that would take you to 200-215 WHP. pretty good. I am not saying their product isnt good or anything, just that I cant justify the cost given the gains. The RRM kit is taking a bit longer to get on the market, but its expected (or at least perdicted) to put out almost twice the advertised power increase for the same price. and its a name (and staff) we are more familiar with at a more personal level. Just pointing out the reason that I didnt buy it.

again, not trying to flame or put it down. I am very happy to see as many vendors working on our cars! just giving my suggestions, as I am sure i am not the only one who has considered this. if I were in CA near their shop, though, I would def go /w the local boys

Hey man...at least you put some decent thought into it. I hate seeing people just spout off unsubstantiated comments.....

Anyhow, food for thought...thanks.

Well i already have my turbo, just have to install in in the spring, doing a full custom setup, starting with a T3 Hybrid turbo. Should be AWSOM!!, i'd rather do it myself than let people i don't know touch my car, that's just my opinion.

thanks everyone for your input!

I am thinking about keeping my car N/A I have read about claims of 20 to 50 whp by just adding a cold air intake , exhaust and piggy back, the problem I am encountering is what size piping is ideal for a naturally aspirated Ralliart 2.25" or 2.5" pipes
I don't want to loose low end power for top end gain!

Need some feed back
thanks jmano

p.s I am working on a CAI, it is in development right now , will post when I get dyno results!!!

I wouldn't go to a 2.5" pipe NA unless I had some porting work done on the head first and a new cam grind. With the stock head flow characteristics it's generally not necessary to upgrade the exhaust size, unless it's too small from the factory (typical problem with civics and the like.)
