I got a 04 RA and i have a question. I went to car toys to get a new deck and they told me because of the sun and sound package, that they cannot hook up a new deck without disconnecting the subwoofer and amp. Can anyone help me with this problem. It doesn't sound right to me that they cant do anything with it. Help please

 

They're wrong, you just need SoundGate's adapter: http://www.soundgate.com/products/factory/mit.htm

I have the sun and sound system too. I replaced my stock deck, hooked the new one up using that adapter, and haven't had any problems.

Btw, the amp in the S&S system powers all of the speakers too, so by disconnecting it they'd be disconnecting the whole system

Edit: Given that they didn't bother doing any research on your car, I'd say you shouldn't have them install the deck. So long as you've done some sort of cabling/crimping before, I recommend just doing it yourself. It was my first car mod of any sort (aside from swapping the louvers for mesh grills), and it wasn't too difficult. Just do a little research on it, use the wonderful photographed howto in these forums, and feel free to ask questions.

i just ordered a deck from crutchfield.... they said the harness and instructions and all i needed will be included... well see if they are smart enough to include this adaptor

 

You can install a headunit without loosing your sub and amp. By using ethier the soundgate interface or a the metra kit. The metra kit is a better deal and comes with the wire harness and interface, for the same price as the soundgate.

no they didnt... im writing them an email and complaining that they didnt send the right stuff... hopefully they will send me what i need with no further problems... crutchfield is usually good with customer service...
