I am curious as to the reception.

 

I have a honda one on my car it's reception is fine. It's about 3.5 "

 

I have a friend who got one for his lancer.. he likes it but he says reception isn't quite as good

 

I got one of the 3.55" silver ones... it's good... any station that was fuzzy before still is, any station that came in before still comes in...
But my stock antenna was a lil beat up... kinda bent from god knows what...
I wouldn't think it'd be much noticeable... mine is the same as the stock one!

I wouldn't get the shorty antenna, just because then it wouldn't hold my antenna ball up as high.

 

Did you make that yourself or did you find it somewhere? Reminds me of my beloved "I hate you." smiley sticker I had on my Grand Am. *sniff* I miss that sticker.

 

I have the exact same one except i got mine from "jhongs" on ebay. The reception is fine, but I only listen to a couple channels, havent really tried too many. But I personally think they beat the crap out of those long a$$ antennas we have stock on ours.

 

I have that one - reception is fine. However, unlike the Perrin one that sits flush to the base, this one will leave a tiny 1/8" ring of space at the bottom where it mounts because it is a more universal design - barely noticeable but just FYI. Plus its 1/2 the price of the Perrin.

 

I got the perrins performance one and it works fine.. it's a good piece

I don't mind the long antenna, it don't cause drag or nothing.. lol Plus I can hang my towels i use to dry the car on it, lol <yes.. an over exaggeration>

 

Be carefull hanging anything off your RA antenna (like rags). The antenna mount will break pretty easily (mine broke a month after I bought my RA & I had to have the dealership replace it - their cost $117, just for the part). The inside wall of the plastic that holds the metal stud recipticle is only about 1/8" thick plastic. The mount probably won't ever break if it isn't stressed, but it won't take much stressing before it breaks, either.

I have a 1.5" Black Anodized Aluminum antenna installed now (eBay, from somewhere in Germany). Reception is similar to what I had with the common 4" black aluminum replacement seen on these threads...

 

Is it integrated into the window then or something? Or did it get jacked like the one on my friends s2000?

 

I'm talking about the rear roof-mount peice on the 04' RA that the stock FM antenna screws into. The headliner has to be pulled out to replace the part mounted to the roof. Mine broke because the mount was defective, or the antenna got smacked by something. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty, but the part is not really very stout - not internally reinforced, thin-walled plastic -. My current (optional) antenna probably doesn't get the reception that the stock 15" or so whip does, but it looks good, and has NO drag - it's only and inch long. Less likely to get tagged by a flying skunk, or whatever...
