buying an ra... need help

hey guys, i'm looking to buy an 05 RA some time soon. this is my first time buying a car. (no trade-in)

just wanted to know how much you guys got your ra's for, and what are reasonable deals that i should be asking for.

i'm probably going to be going with the sun and sound package, although i only want the sunroof... already have a system at home waiting for a car, but it comes as a package. i've also went to the dealer ship, and they said if i don't want the system, they can take it to a shop down the street and will make an aftermarket sunroof and will still have a warranty. is that reliable? and it's only a couple hundred $US cheaper, than the original package. should i just ask for a cheaper package?

and i've also heard that the tires aren't very good at all. i've heard some people got new tires thrown in for free.

Search around this forum, there's already another thread that addresses purchase prices.

Tires suck *****. I doubt a dealership would give you better tires for free, but I'm sure some dealerships would offer an upgrade option.

Congrats on choosing a RA, you won't be dissapointed and ull make alot of people in your neighborhood pissed at the stock performance.

Alot of people got good deals. I advise, if your gonna change the audio system in the car, than don't get the S&S package. If you don't plan on changing the S&S package (which is good stock) than goahead and get it. I got my RA for 13k, but i opted out of the S&S package cuz im gonna upgrade my audio system.

I would check out the shop down the street if you're going to go ahead and get the sunroof done by them. Just make sure they do good work.

Yeah, the tires are pretty lame. They don't work well in wet conditions, or dry conditions, or really any conditions at all.

Also, try and get them to throw in some OEM parts as well. I'm sure you could get a set of pedals or something.

Definitely a good idea. I was able to get them to throw in the mesh grille, door sills, and hyperground kit.

I mean, they're fine in wet conditions..it's not like you're going to slide off the road or anything. They actually do recover from skids pretty well (I have RS-A's, btw). The only problem I have is when I accelerate from a stop when the road is wet, and I do it with a little more force than usual, they spin like no other. And it never fails! I have to keep my launch from a stop under 2K in wet conditions, no matter what! Other than that, they're good tires.

ya so i'm probably going to invest in some better tires, and I'm going to go with the s&s, and maybe just sell off the system that I have at home. maybe replace the sub.

generally, how much would I be able to knock off the price of the car when bargaining? i understand that since it is brand new, and there isn't much that i can bargain with compared to a used car. how much u guys get yours for?

tried, but i couldn't find the thread that talked about the pricing of these cars

With S&S and a 2005 model, you'll probably be out the door for just shy of $20,000, maybe $19k depending on what rebates you qualify for.

i've also heard of the issue of understeer in the ra. on top of tires, should i get an anti-sway or rear strut bar? i understand that both would be good, but which one is more effective?

- this is important cuz if i do plan on getting a strut bar, i might as well not get the s&s package cuz the sub would get in the way, and just get an aftermarket sunroof.

I got my 2004 with sun, sound, and side air bags for $18.6k (USD) out the door early last spring. On one hand the 2005's haven't been out as long as 2004's had been then, but there's no differences between them and the Ralliart itself is older, so I think you should be able to beat my price.

In fact, if there's any 2004's left with the options/color you want I recommend you go for one them, because they're identical and they should give you even more room to negotiate.

Good luck and enjoy your new Ralliart!

Welcome!
Got mine for about 18k out the door--S&S package.
There is a little understeer, but overall it handles much better than my 02 Eclipse GT did.
Someone on here makes a strut bar that fits around the stock sub (RRE maybe?) . Not sure which would be better----I don't have either one yet.
