C&D on spike

Just caught some info on car and driver on spike tv, there doing a show on the honda sir type r and a celica trd. the celica wes completly striped, and a turbo but only ut done 150hp and cost about 44k and i forget about the honda but it was up around that price to. now my question is when they did the track times it was 0-60 around 6.1 i think and 1.4mile was in the 14.5-.9 .... umm isint that slower then the ralliart? even on a bad run? just seems funny that they would advertise a "tunner car" that cost ~44k but sucks

no, Raliart has 0-60 in just above 7 seconds and they do 15.4 give or take in the 1/4 mile

Those times are faster than the Ralliart. However, you can easily smoke those times without raising the value of your car to $44k.

44K coud get a corvette or a heavily modded EVO. Such a waste. Especially on a semi-girlly vehicle. I'm talking about image, not performance.

No, $44k US. This was a fairly heavily modified Civic. Engine swap to whatever engine the Type-R in Europe has. Suspension, wheels, brakes, transmission, CF, interior, etc. Same goes for the Celica - supercharged, suspension, brakes, paint and vinyl, interior lightening, etc.

I saw that epsiode. It was a UK 240bhp Type-R engine/trans swap into basically a USDM sI frame, it ran 0-60 in 6.1 and 1/4th in 14.9. The sI cost 19.5k, w/ all that work they put in it cost about 44k.

Yes, it's faster than a stock ralliart, but hell it should be... look @ the swap alone. We all know the USDM sI has nothing on the RA thou.

Still seems alot for nothing, 20k car and dumping 20k+ to achive those #'s? The celica's interior was gutted. just seems like a bad advertising campain in my eye's. even if it a more show then go concept. if those are the tunned #'s after 20k is put in. i'd hate to see the stock #'s

Your only looking at 0-60 and 1/4 mile times though. Put it on a road course and start recording lap times and you'll see how much faster they are. A lot of money went into suspension etc. Sometimes cars have to turn.

44k on a civic. Man. Somebody watched 2F2F too many times. Seriously, if you got that much cash to burn, start with a better platform.
