somethings burning

just installed the rrm axel back two days ago and when i drive it smells like something is burning. even more so when i get out and stand behind the car near the exhaust. im pretty sure i did everything right. please help. also my rear passenger side brake smells really bad after i drive. (smell is completely different from the exhaust). it also smells like something is burning, or causing friction atleast, and it gets to the point where it hurts your nostrils when you smell it. i took my car to the dealership about the brake problem and they say every is fine (but what the hell does Glendale Mitsu know? hate those guys). please help. any input would be great, even if its just a guess. thanks for helping me out with all my car problems. really appriciate it. pretty sure i got a lemon but oh well. i love my car.

if there were any chemicals left on the metal inside the muffler from the manufacturing process those might be being burned off. I have no info to base that on but the idea just popped into my head.

Yep, that's the ticket right there. New exhaust components need a few days up to a week of use to properly 'burn in.' During that time, you'll smell some new 'odors' from your exhaust. That's just the metal on the inside being utilized for the first time. Nothing to worry about! Just make sure if it doesn't go away after a week of steady use, then take it in to be checked out!

It's typical... There's nothing to worry about unless you see the packing material in the muffler catch on fire or something far fetched...

your brake pad smells? maybe you're having trouble wiht your caliper.. i had that with my ford.. had to replace the whole caliper because it seized up and kept rubbing against the rotor. As for your muffler it's the burn in period... But if your brakes keep making that smell.. have them looked at, that's someone out of the ordinary i think.

Installed my RRM Axelback last week - same thing. It went away, so don't worry.
