i friend of mine has a rrm down pipe in one of his cars w/ stock muffler....
it stained the inner side of the lip and it burn the inner bumper of the car.. i checked mine and it has the stain but no burn as of yet.....

Thats not always true, I had a custom cat back made with the tip well out of the back end and it still gets hot enough to melt the bumper. As far as the carbon build up on the back of the car, get used to it cause its gonna happen as long as you dont have a cat catchin all that crap comin out.
