2nd dyno run

Its been a few months since I last dyno'd my car. I had the 2.5" catback installed since the last time I ran. I guessed I lost alot of torque and gained alot of power. There was less change that I though! heres the results:

First, to refresh, here is my best of 3 dyno runs from a few months ago:

Thats about what we all would expect. 159whp, 163wtq. Not bad....

I though the exhaust would make me exchange a lot of torque for a lot of power and shift both bands to the right a bit. Lets see the results:

It did drop a few pounds of peak torque, but as you can see, thats only felt for a few RPMS (right at the 3600 RPM point where the MIVEC kciks in). Otherwise, the torque curves are almost identical, with one exception: On the new runs, I am able to hold the torque higher than before. Without the exhaust the torque just nose dove down to 100ftlbs. Now at redline, I am still torqing about 120ftlbs! That means more acceleration at the end of each gear. And you can feel it. the car gets from 80 to 100 MUCH faster!

The same goes for horse power. Those few lbs of torque I lost for that 50 RPM burst where traided for a bit more peak HP. Not much, but its for a longer duration. The old power was peaking at 5500 RPM and started to drop pretty steap soon after. The new power band peaks a tad later, but is near the high point much sooner and doesnt drop off until much later. Infact, at the end of this run, I was putting out 15HP more than at the end of the old runs.

So in the end, what they say is true: Exhaust doesnt get you any gains, but just helps move power and torque where you want it. In this case, I barely moved it, but did exactly what I wanted: optimze for racing. My torque band for a launch is almost the same and my launches are actually better now, and my powerband is longer and smoother so I get constant steady acceleration through my races, and its showing in my most recent times. 15.345 in the 1/4 on the lame goodyear RSA tires. I expect to see 14's when I get my toyos in a few weeks =)

I got the runs on video. I'll rip and post them in a bit

lol yea. by saying 'might be able to' i thought that was a 'maybe' since i had **** to do. and that was like 2 weeks ago.

so i'll ask again: what have you done /w it so far and what do you plan on doing with it? i assume that means you still want me to look at it?

btw, this forums supports private messaging
