Bigger Stock Calipers???

i was ordering my rims, i got 17" Tenzo R Passion 5's in gloss black...they look cool, but i was told that the calipers stuck out further than all the other lancers (except the evo of course) but i was just wondering if this was true to see if i needed to go buy spacers or not...oh yea by the way, the offset is 42. thanx

Spacers don't hurt. However, you shouldn't need them if you got wheels w/ the proper offset.

if you are into better brakes...
after a little modification you can put the front brakes (calipers and rotors) of the outlander this will give you a bigger thicker rotor, and yes vented in and out, and a dual piston caliper....
free advise you'll thank me later.... (only for a 17 and up rim)

or you jus can buy the rrm kit...

From the sounds of it, you should be fine. Those tenzos are some sweet wheels too.

Just curious... what's involved in that little modification?

Question

-

Oh... okay, not that bad then. Do you know if the rear calipers (does it even come with them???) will fit too or is it just a mod for the front of the car?

I can just dream of one day having vented rear discs... It seems I tend to warp anything that even resembles a brake disc just by looking at it a bit too long! I noticed that I get much more dust on the rear than with the Integra... probably because of the EBD. And brake dust (in generous ammounts) almost always mean high temps. I should try and find some of those heat tapes/stickers/bands/thingies* though and see what kind of temp I get... I wonder if they sell that somewhere around town...

*: can you tell I have no clue how this is called???

if you are going through all the trouble of making a bracket (it's not a minor mod like you said) i would have just gotten 4 piston calipers and make brackets for that

when i see "minor modification" i usually associate that with cutting off a corner or getting a new bolt.. not major fabrication (it is, since your entire life depends on those brackets holding the caliper in place so you can actually stop)

I know what you mean... but it always depends on what kind of expertise you can rely on though. If I could one day afford such a mod, I wouldn't have a problem with fabricating the brakets (I have an uncle and a cousin who wouldn't have such a hard time doing that). So the main factor would be the price of the calipers I guess...

But yeah, I guess most people should play it safe and get a kit that comes with a garantee. It's always the right move to make if you're not sure about such an important mod...

well i got the rims put on...literally seconds before it started storming...pulled it into the garage as the first drops came, but they dont rub at all, they look really nice, i would post pics but i dont really know how, has anyone else had a problem with their car sitting up higher when getting 17's? i think mine went up about 1/2-1in. and doesn't that throw off the speedometer? if it does, how do you fix that?

Wasn't it just the suspension not having completely set in after you lifted it to change the wheels? If not, I'm not sure you ordered the right diameter tires... that would worry me.
