Disabling seatbelt chime

Does anyone know how to get rid of that annoying seatbelt chime? Don't get me wrong, my seatbelts always on, but sometimes on short trips I don't wear a seatbelt and I can't stand that sound. I looked in the manual but I couldn't figure out how to disable that sound.

it's a safety precaution its not in the manual.

First off do you have Side Airbags (in the seat) if so i wouldn't recommend disabling anything on your seat, if not there should be a clip if you pull the seat all the way up to the front. You can see it at the base of the seat belt.

Chances are you can't.

A lot of American made cars support that feature, but not many Japanese vehicles do. I suppose you can find the chime and pull it out, but you'd probably have a permanent warning light.

BTW, how can your seatbelts be "always on" if you don't wear them on short trips? Don't forget, upwards of 70% of accidents happen within a few miles of home.

Is there a concern for a RA with side air bags? I have them, and would also like to disable my chime. Anyone know?

I have an 04 Ralliart, just unplug the sensor under the seat. It's mounted to the seat frame near the center console. Not connected to the airbag sensors as I've had mine unplugged for about a year with no ABS light or anything.
Another great thing to do is disable the key chime with the key in the ignition! I really hate chimes....

That's a dumb statistic because most people don't drive more than a few miles from their home.

I recommend leaving your seatbelt on for short trips, I do. At any rate, I've heard that some manufacturers have a certain code to disable the sound. I don't mind it so I haven't really checked into it.

Why not pull the fuse that controls the light and the chime. Or pull the pin on back of the board.
